hi all!

today we filed the I-129F!! SO exciting! But i was wondering how they feel about people being together not that long. I mean me and thomas met september last year and till december when he left london, we spend every day together, lived together, travelled together. Since then we talk everyday, email, write. Ive been in march to see him and am going in june, he is coming in july. we are deeply in love and surely they cant deny me a visa because the duration of the relationship isnt long enough? will it take longer? also by the time we get married we have been together for over a year..

just wondering if anyone has experience in this!

ta! and good luck to all!

First of all...congratulations on the first step.. yay!

To your question - I think they've seen it all as far as people falling in love quickly so it's not that big a deal so long as you've met in person (which you definitely have) and can survive together in the US without becoming a burden to society...

Thankfully they don't get that involved in the marriage process...lol... I wouldn't put much more thought into it...

You have a lot more time together than many couples do before filing. Your fiance will file the papers through CSC and that will add a good 4-5months before the interview. Keep documenting the relationship and you sould be fine. congratulations on getting everything in the mail! It's a great feeling to be official!

I have seen lots of people get visas that had only spent a few days together. That may not be the wisest thing in my mind but it did not seem to impede the visa.

There shouldn't be any problems. Just keep documenting your being together and keeping in touch with each other after you file the I-129F. Then you could use these evidences later on for the interview. Congratulations and Good Luck!!

No need to worry about that at all. (I wish they consider that as a fact to vary the process speed)

Anyway... some people know each other for as little as 3 months, seeing each other for 1 week and they got their visa.

They don't care if you haven't known each other long as long as you've met in person in the past two years and can provide proof and evidence of a genuine relationship.

I don't think that so much matters. You just have to be able to prove an ongoing relationship, and from the sounds of it, you probably won't have any problems.

The ONLY thing I would be concerned about...being that you've already mailed off your I-129F.... and you said he was coming to the US in JULY... that may be a problem. Form other posts, and other questions, once the petition is filed... if the fiance tries to enter the country, he or she may be turned away at Customs..and will have to get another flight back at their own expense. It comes up in their computer files that he is applying for a K1 Visa. You may want to check into that further....or please someone here... add to this....

I-129F

13 April 2007--Mailed I-129F (Processed at California Service Center)

18 April 2007--Received NOA1

13 Aug. 2007--Received NOA2

09 Oct. 2007--Medical in London

08 Nov. 2007--Visa Interview & Approved

14 Nov. 2007--Pete receives K1 visa in the mail

21 Nov. 2007-- Pete arrives in the United States (together at last!!)

27 Dec. 2007--Our 3 year anniversary of being engaged

16 Feb. 2008--We were married!!

I visited my fiance in PA while we were waiting for our NOA2 (and subsequently, we got the letter while we were together!). I went with a copy of my schedule for the upcoming semester in college, a letter from my employer stating specifically that I was on holiday and would be returning to work the day after I came back from the States, and an itinerary of my return ticket.

At the POE in Vancouver, the guard asked me what the purpose of my trip was, and I told him that I was going to visit my friends and fiance. He perked a little at that, then started asking tons of questions about me and my fiance. Then he asked, "Do you have a return ticket?" and I laughed and said that I definitely had one since I was returning for my summer semester at college. He asked to see the confirmation for my return ticket and then told me to have a great trip.

Let me tell you, I was damp under my arms when I was allowed to go through the gate.
