Hello everyone,

Please, can anybody help me with this?

My now fiance is filling me a fiance visa and in the form, there is a space for Alien number and US social security number if any. My question is should I put my expired Alien number from my expired green card and my Social security number? Or should we just leave it blank or N/A. I don't know if once you've given a social security number if that's for life or not, but I just  wanted to clarify if I still have to use or put my previous alien number and Social security number.

Thank you all.

Thank you for your response Chris, so I guess I should put my US social security number then, but how about my Alien number? My green card has been expired for a long time now.

Thank you one again.

If it were me doing the application I would just list your SSN.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

yes, put both

they are given for life. you will get a new card with the same number

It happened to me, I had a GC and left the US as a child. when my mom filed for me again, I got the same SS number and A# on the GC

Bad advice...  They want to know if there is a previously created "A" file for you.  The question is not "Do you have an unexpired green card?, If so please enter the "A" number"

Besides, If you were still a resident why would you be getting a visa?

YMMV

I don't have a valid green card anymore. I was married in the states and stayed there for couple of years but my ex and I came back here in the Philippines and I did not renew my green card. It's been expired for at least 6 years now. My ex cheated on me and now we're  divorced, however, my now fiance wanted to file me a fiance visa, so I'm not sure if I should put my old Alien number on the form or not.

Thank you

Thank you Dee elle,  can I ask?  Did you send an official form to abandon your previous residency or green card before you file a new one? I asked a lawyer and he said I might have to send an official form that I abandoned my green card to USCIS the form is called I-407, before I can file for a new visa. Is that right?

They ask for

List it

they need to look up your information on computers / don't make it harder by making them find this out for themselves (takes longer)

and not listing any information looks like hiding something and is not honest / it can come back to bite you

You should list both. They ask for a reason.

Yes I did complete the form, but a long time before we reapplied. There was 27 years between no longer being an LPR and our second move to the US

So i really need to do this first before we can file for fiance visa then. How did you do it? My ex said I'll have to go to a US immigration here in Cebu to do it cuz it will need me to sign it in front of the US immigration officer, is this true? And how long the process would take? Sorry for keep asking, we are ready to file our fiance visa but can't do it because of this... 😩

Thank you by the way
