Hello Vjs

I hope everybody is doing fine,

I would like to inquire about AOS procedures and the necessary documents to be sent along with the application for AOS.

my wife been unemployed for a while and now she found a job with a good pay , her job can allow us to file and we above the poverty limits. Can we file now ? or do we have to wait a certain time? is it ok to file with some pay stubs or it have to be more then one month job?

another thing, can anyone clarify what documents should we include with our AOS application? yes the forum have a guide, but in the section Affidavit of Support it says Include any additional required supporting documentation ( what could be those supporting documents)

- My wife after Marriage did not change her name, is that a problem? well we could not do it for financial reasons. Now we are able and we did not do it, will it possess problem in processing our application by immigration office? is it advisable to change our name before applying? or it is ok?

please advise me and guide me through this process, I really appreciate your help.

Hi, not changing name will not affect AOS

Yes, there is no wait time to file with new job. 

Supporting documents for the Affidavit of support will be IRS Tax transcript or Tax return + W-2 or pay stub or verification of employment letter. 

If your wife didn't file tax return last year, you can attach a letter to explain the situation.

11/21/2017 Received 4 e-mails & 4 text notifications (01:30 AM EST); checks cashed

11/28/2017 Received 4 NOA1 hard copies

12/09/2017 Received Biometrics Appointment Letter (for i-485 and i-765)

12/21/2017 Biometrics Appointment

01/08/2018 **I-765 and I-131 Approved** (61 days)

01/16/2018 %%Received combo card%% (tracking shows USCIS sent it on Jan 11 from MO, then Jan 15 USPS closed for MLK day) 

01/20/2018 Received approval letters for EAD and AP

09/20/2018 Received text 'Interview was scheduled' and interview notice will be mailed

09/27/2018 Received Interview notice by mail

10/25/2018 Interview day

10/26/2018 I-485 case status updated to "We ordered your new card"

10/29/2018 Case Status updated to "We approved your Form I-485"

10/31/2018 Case Status updated to "We mailed your new card"

11/01/2018 My card was picked up by the USPS with tracking number assigned

11/05/2018 Green Card Received 

 

Side note: I turned my maiden name into second middle name. In the combo card, my given name is First Firstmiddleinitial, however on the back of the card, they attempted to list my second middle name.

you are adjusting your status from a different category of visa where as I am adjusting our status from K1 visa which are different.

so what documents should we sent along with AOS from K1 visa?

Same supporting document. Just skip over the ones that aren't relevant to you (i.e. I-20, previous EADs, and other items you don't have)
