Financial Documents

Hey everyone,

So a few questions:

I haven't gotten my NOA2 yet (one day I hope).  I will be going to see my fiance on February 9th though.  Should I bring the I-134 and financial documents down to Brazil with me? Or would I be bringing them too early in the process?  I'm not sure how recent they need to be.  I'd be including my 2018 W-2, pay stubs, letter from my company, etc.

I think you should be ok unless it takes an abnormal time which it could but it’s not that likely but it’s USCIS so we never know. Just bring them and sign them the last day you’re there that way it’s closer to interview date. Don’t forget you need a new letter of intent too with a date closer to the interview so bring that too. If it ends up being too old for some unknown reason it goes beyond 6 months I’d say just keep one ready to fedex overnight if needed.

In terms of the letter showing proof of employment, would my offer sheet for my job qualify?  It has company letterhead, my start date, and salary on it.

I believe that’s all they need. I think some people have them add in good standing too but that’s only when they ask for a letter. But yours sounds like it’s got the jitz.

Yeah it's pretty comprehensive on the offer letter.  What I'm hoping is that plus 6-10 recent paystubs that match the company should indicate my financial standing.  My other concern was I lived abroad until July when I began the job.  I've got about 5 months of income history that puts me at around 19k (above the poverty line).  I really hope they'll consider that I make well above the poverty line even if my taxes show otherwise.

Don’t forget that you need to be at 125% of the poverty line, which is a little over $20,000 not $19,000.

It will be 19k on my W-2 for 2017, but my annual income is around 40k.  It's just because I started at this job late in the year but even my pay stubs will indicate that I make about 1600 every two weeks

I think you should be ok. What counts is what you are currently receiving. Not in the past.
