Getting a new tire.

I don't go to the dealership. Have some mechanics here that are on first name basis...since we drive so much we actually get brand new winter tires every winter. Usually bring it in, and 45 minutes later all 4 are done, including studding. Sorry to hear about your ordeal

You use studded tires?  You should get a set of Blizzaks instead.  Great for snow and ice, about 5X more effective than studded (and not illegal to run year around).  Lasted me 5 years, about 45,000 miles.  Cannot imagine going thru a set of tires in one year, that’s crazy.

First, I strongly believe in, and always use, the British spelling (tyre).

 

The Mrs.-T-B.-mobile needed new tyres.

After shopping around, I found a Mexican shop in a nearby town.

Their policy is to assign one guy per tyre.

Four llantas nuevas (new tyres), 60K tread warranty, from stack on the floor to full installation = 14 minutes (I timed it).

With payment & receipt for $332, in & out in 24 minutes.

 

Months later, the T-B.-mobile needed new tyres.

Went back to the Mexican shop.  Still one guy per tyre.

Took a little longer this time, because of negotiations for trade-in value of the old tyres and a challenge balancing one.

The shop owner gave me a pleasantly surprising $40 each for the two better old tyres.

Four llantas nuevas, 60K tread warranty, for net price of $79 each, fully installed.

In & out in 38 minutes.

Of course we use studded tires, you have to here imo, and we've had this convo before 

 

In VT they are legal year round, so I leave them on instead of going back and forth since I know I'm going to need new ones the next year anyway(we do about 40k miles on it in a year).

I used to do the oil changes myself, but it is such a pain to collect the oil and dispose of it properly.  I have done a brake job a few times in the freezing weather.  I agree, it is challenging.

I think you mean English spelling, the language not the country.

 

I remember when I first got here I was charged with getting new tyres for the truck so googled it and could find no suppliers which seemed odd.
