My fiance is starting the process in getting a Philippine passport.

According to DFA, this is the list of ID's she will need:

LIST OF ACCEPTABLE IDS (At least 1 of the following):

  • Government-issued picture IDs such as the following:
  • Digitized SSS ID
  • Driver’s License
  • GSIS E-card
  • PRC ID
  • IBP ID
  • OWWA ID
  • Digitized BIR ID
  • Senior Citizen’s ID
  • Unified Multi-Purpose ID
  • Voter’s ID
  • Other acceptable picture IDs such as the following:
  • Old College ID
  • Alumni ID
  • Old Employment IDs

LIST OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (Old documents issued at least one year prior to date of application that show correct name, date and place of birth, picture and signature of applicant, at least 2 of the following):

  • PSA Marriage Contract
  • Land Title
  • Seaman’s Book
  • Elementary or High School Form 137 or Transcript of Records with readable dry seal
  • Government Service Record
  • NBI Clearance
  • Police Clearance
  • Barangay Clearance
  • Digitized Postal ID
  • Readable SSS-E1 Form or Microfilmed Copy of SSS-E1 Form
  • Voter’s Certification, List of Voters and Voter’s Registration Record (please attach receipt)
  • School Yearbook

She lost her college ID.

If she gets a new one, will that work, as it states "old college ID?"

She has since completed her studies there and received a degree.

She has a NSO birth certificate.

I am not sure if she has a school yearbook.

My question is, what is the quickest way for her to get an acceptable ID for her passport in 2018?

I looked at older posts, but things change. ;-)

She will go to Tacloban Leyte to apply.

I think a Voters ID would be the easiest and quickest.

She thinks she can get a drivers license without too much trouble.

It seems a Postal ID is no longer accepted.

Any up to date information on how to get her a passport within the next 6 months would be most helpful.

Thanks as always..

jj

You don't need ID/documents from each list.   You will do best to have ID from the primary and/or secondary list.   Two IDs.    (re-issued college ID should be fine)

Getting an appointment with DFA will be too much fun, it appears that FIXERS have "stolen" all appointment openings and are selling them back to people .

She doesn't have an Alumni ID?
I am not sure if the school will issue another college ID for her because she's a graduate already.
The only thing the school can give her is an Alumni ID.

If she's going to get a driver's licence, the LTO will give her a student permit first. After a month, she can apply for the actual driver's licence.  I am not sure if the DFA will accept a student permit.

It should be PSA Birth Certificate. NSO is now PSA.

Please be reminded that walk ins are not allowed anymore.

Yeah. DFA removed passport appointment slots for travel agencies since last year.
There's gonna be someone :alien: inside the DFA supplying all those appointment slots to the travel agency.

Do you think a drivers license is the easiest way?

Or would a Voter ID be easier?

I am aware of the appointment needed..and the hurdles of bureaucracy.,,thus trying to get the process started now.

Thanks.

Visit the closest LTO or a satellite office to inquire whether they can release the license on the same day. There are offices that release it on the same day, others require you to come back after a couple of months sometimes 3 to get the actual card. If she just needs to renew a driver's license it'll be faster. If she needs a new one, she still has to get a student permit and that one is not an ID, just a piece of paper.

I personally applied for a Voter's ID several years ago and never received it! I wouldn't count on that, my 2 cents. Postal ID is still accepted I believe but only under the supporting documents. I think the most feasible for her to obtain at this time are her driver's license (primary), NBI and Police Clearances (supporting documents).

Your trying to hard to make this too hard. It's a very simple process and doesn't "require" and ID to be easier than another.  Pick two ID's and use them.  Getting an ID in the Philippines is difficult at best but if you can get an alumni ID and another ID your going to be good to go. It's hard to answer your question as to which is easier. Take the DL for instance. Let's say Joe passes the DL test on his first trial but Ralph has to repeat and repeat till he gets it right. So, it's much harder to get a license for Ralph than Joe but before either of them tried to get a DL you or anyone else probably couldn't say if it would be easier for one or the other.

So, go get the ID's that you think you can get rather easily and let yourself see what works for you. I have a very good idea that you're going to figure this out and get the ID's you need and get the passport.
