Is an excuse needed to avoid talks? Can't the Democrats just do what the Republicans did for 8 years? Whine and do nothing. The biggest problem the Republicans have right now is they want to govern using the same tactics as they used when they were the minority. Won't work and nothing get's done.

The Republican strategy of waiting out the presidency worked very well for them in Obama's second term. What they need to realize is that waiting out the presidency when the president is a member of your party is not such a good idea.

May I ask your view about the likelihood of the ending of chain migration? (I have an IR5 petition pending). Bob Godlatte’s Bill, available to view on his website, which has been endorsed by Trump, Cotton, Perdue etc etc not only ends family sponsorship ( other than for spouse and children) but invalidates pending petitions that are pending at the time of enactment of the Bill, which could potentially be before March 5th. Personally I am terrified.

thanks

I understand your concern and I would be anxious as well.

In my personal opinion family migration  ( Let's ditch the chain migration term and call it what it is) will survive any final legislation.   I don't know how they could stop existing petitions at any rate.

That said, stay vocal with your representatives let them know that this issue is as your rep and two Senators the same question.

I hope you can find peace in all of this.

Democrats always love a good diversion from discussing and debating meaningful topics. S**tgate is no different.

There is strong evidence that talks are going on. A Democratic Senator was at the Whitehouse just last week on this topic.

We are into a three day Holiday which means three work days over two weeks for Congress so what talks are expected? We are talking about the US Congress here, nothing gets done.
