Hey all,

so im totally new to ANY of this. I barley knew what a visa was before this . Not gonna lie this is kind of awkward but I’ll give it a shot , any info helps!

so my fiancé and i (he’s from Jamaica) applied the beginning of November 2017. We got approved for our case being looked at a few weeks later. I got a letter in the mail , f-129? I think that’s what it was . Pretty much just saying they revere it . From here do I wait ? I’m not sure what th next step is .

Thanks!

Hello!

You're going to find other people who applied for their visa in November in that thread.

I suggest you fill out your visa journey timeline so that you can get a better idea of what type of wait you're looking at.

There is also a guide that would provide some beneficial information:

And this will help you understand each step of the process:

Welcome, and good luck!

Here's the K-1 guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide and K-1 flowchart http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow for your reference. Make sure you always download the latest forms from USCIS website https://www.uscis.gov/forms every step of the way.

The notice that you received from them was the NOA1 aka I-797C. You'll need to wait between 3-6 months to get your NOA2 aka I-797. that would let you know if your I-129F has been approved or rejected. Sometimes you'll end up getting a RFE instead asking for more evidence before they actually approve or reject your case. Each case is different.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

This is no longer accurate. The wait is now between 6-8 months.
