How did u get transfered? Did you write Van in I-129 at the begninging? or you called them to change? If so, when you call and where to call?

Yeah, I had my case transferred and I don't regret it for a minute. At first I thought maybe it would slow down Vancouver but when I went for my interview that day, there were only 3 K applicants including me. They slot 4 K applicants per day so they had an empty spot that day anyway. :) Not to mention the cost involved with us flying out there for the interview and hotel costs. I flew from Toronto to Van and he flew in from VA. Expensive, but worth every penny. :)

April 28 2007 sent I-130 to NVC

May 22 2007 application transfered to CSC

July 11 2007 received NOA1, decide to apply CR1 instead of K3

Aug 14 2007 touched (not sure if it is touched before Aug 14)

Aug 21 2007 NOA2 in snail mail :)

Aug 27 2007 NVC received our case, number is assigned.

Sep 11 2007 DS3032 and AOS bill generated and mailed out

Sep 12 2007 mailed out DS3032 from Canada and hubby mailed AOS bill in US. DS3032 will arrive NVC 3 days slower than AOS bill.

Sep 18 2007 Auto msg says NVC received DS3032, didn't mention AOS bill yet.

Sep 24 2007 IV fee bill generated

Oct 8 received IV fee bill. Still waiting for 864form

Oct 13 received 864form letter. It was issued on Sep 24 at NVC. Mailed out 864 on Oct 15

NVC agent said they don't receive IV fee bill nor 864. Send out IV fee bill again end of Oct.

Nov 8 IV fee bill entered to system

Nov 12 DS230 generated. But agent still said 864 is not received yet.

Nov 20 resend out 864 again(Hubby forgot to write case number on documents last time)

Nov 27 NVC Auto message said received 864, now waiting for 230

Nov 29 230 delivered. Will arrive at NVC next day.

Dec 3 NVC received 230 and put into its system

Dec 13 NVC operator told us the case is in administrative process.

Dec 14 Called operator again, and magically the case is completed!

I think the request for transfer is by email, not entirely sure.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about this topic, especially for newcomers, is that all you have to do is ask for a transfer and you will get it. Not so. There are requirements, which with a little searching here in our forum you will find a couple of threads with those details. And by recent reports by fellow VJ'ers, it sounds like the two consulates are getting wise to the transfer trend, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them completely clamp down on transfers altogether in the future.

Personally, if you fit the qualifications and the consulates agree, then go for it. But moving to Vancouver just to get an earlier appointment date makes no sense to me. Then again, it isn't my life. :)

I transferred after the case was already at Montreal. Got approval from Vancouver by phone and email.

Cassie is right that it's not as easy as just asking. They are getting wise to people wanting to transfer for faster interviews and you need to give them a valid reason why you're requesting the transfer and also an address out west. How do I know they're getting wise to it? Because they told me so when they asked me the reason for the transfer and my address out west.
