Finally after 14 months mom got her passport back with her IR5 visa. Now I'll be booking her tkt and she should be here by the end of Feb.

Question:  Is there anything in particular that she needs at POE? Her visa didn't come with a sealed envelope, so I'm guessing nothing is necessary besides per passport.

Also I'm about to book her flight with connection in Mexico, wondering if there's a problem if she needs to do her connection in USA.

thx

She didn’t get a sealed envelope? Just her passport? Sounds wrong, she should contact the embassy.

Thought that was weird as well but there's a letter inside specifically saying there's no sealed envelope for that Visa and giving the instructions to pay for the green card

never heard of that before, but if they specifically said that I guess it’s ok. Make sure she takes that letter with to the POE.

Make sure with the airlines that there will be no problem connecting through Mexico. When my then fiance and later my in-laws connected through Mexico they had some trouble due to not having a visa for Mexico. If the rules are the same, they are allowed one connecting flight only (cannot connect from one city in Mexico to another city in Mexico then on to US). They had to get a document at the airport stating something like "Transit without visa" and then they were escorted from the plane to  a room they couldn't leave until they were escorted to their flight for the US. Just something to be aware of. Good luck!

This is country dependent, my country you don't need a visa for Mexico if you have one for the US, so yes she should definitely check this.

Was the process completed through the online CEAC document uploads??? AM thinking I remeber that there were no printed documents... so no packet to carryntomthe POE... but I could be very wrong..

Hoping someone who has completed an electronic upload and entered with their visa can give input here..,

Yes, everything was done via CEAC site.

Good night, very happy for you. So, you probably did the sending by email or upload, in these two cases, you do not receive the famous sealed envelope, this is quiet, explain very well to your mother, since the information is relatively new in some airports, in the letter of the passport, on a scale in Mexico, "Brazilian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Mexico for up to 180 days, when the purpose of the trip is to carry out tourism, business, traffic, sports activities without pay, and any other unpaid activity. " (information of the embassy of Mexico https://embamex.sre.gob.mx/brasil/index.php/avisos/237-03-supresion-visas) but a tip, I do not know the age of your mother, but it would not be more easy one-way flight in the united states? Have you tried searching for those mile websites? Good luck and congratulations :)

Believe or not 1 way tickets are more expensive than round trip. I'm just researching the best option. I use www.brazilianexpress.com they are specialized in USA-Brazil (anywhere in the US and anywahere in Brazil). Just a tip for the fellow brazilians that want a good airline deal, but there's a catch: they only accept American credit cards.

Hopefully I can find her a better flight option that does not include 1 stop in Canada.
