And not only have I SEEN it in LA (This for Maven), I have been a victim of it.  Except the groups of people were brown, not black.  So yes, it happens.

For instance, I think affirmative action is a disgrace. If admission is non-discriminatory and based only on academic merit, then I don't even want to know the racial composition of the class. If you have to admit 100 kids and the 100 kids who score better are all asian, or black, or white, then be it.

i don't think all americans think haiti, el salvador and africa are **holes with no people of value to add to america. i'm not saying that because i'm afraid to hurt someone's feelings.

From what I read just today, Trump never mentioned Haiti in this allegedly racist tirade.  I think you may be just using Haiti by association, albeit not intentionally.

Also why do you think a person who is educated will be less likely to be a burden? Having an education doesn't grant you a job. Having a green card doesn't grant you one either. And neither of them means you won't be a burden on the system. If you are an honest person and uphold your end of the bargain to the agreement then you won't.

 

Were our ancestors educated? Doubtful. And yet.. they still managed to provide a valuable contribution.

And hasn't the argument on this forum from time to time been that it's the everyman.. the ''common'' man, having no higher education or higher degree, but with real world skills are somehow more valued? Weren't people annoyed that persons with degrees from India and Pakistan were outsourcing American jobs? Hope they are prepared for more of that.

 

The gist that DHS sec gave was that POTUS implied why couldn't more people come from Norway, as they are 'hardworking'. Well I see hardworking immigrants every day that are not from Norway, and work just as hard, if not harder. They do backbreaking work for very little pay. They are teachers, doctors, nurses, farmers, builders, and a whole host of other intensely difficult and laborious jobs.

Actually, now that I'm thinking about: I know two millionaires who got rich by working hard, and being smart. One of them never went to school and the other was an orphan and only finished highschool because his dad passed and he had to start working to provide for his family.

 

Both are living in one of those ****hole countries.

Are the ones in power in LA actually white? It doesn't matter to me personally, but I always thought most of them are Hispanic or with a Hispanic background.

(Mayor) Garcetti sounds VERY Italian to me, unfortunately.

The two worst mayors in the country (who happen to lead the two largest cities are in fact of Italian origin.

That's to show that bad people can come also from non-****hole countries.

I agree that bad people can come from everywhere. I don't know anything about this particular mayor's, but I believe we can consider it a fact that there are "rotten apples" everywhere.
