There is nothing wrong to say that some countries are ****holes, it's just the truth.

People living in those countries are just victims of corrupt regimes/politicians/societies.

There is no reason to get offended.

Let's be a bit more pragmatic.

No one would ever choose to live in those countries, that's why there are so many immigrants from there.

Saying a country is a ****hole is one thing, saying you want less immigrants from ****hole countries is something else. The latter assumes people from ****hole countries are less likely to succeed in the US, less likely to contribute to the society, less likely to embrace American culture and values. He also said he wanted more people from countries like Norway, let's forget about the fact that Norway is predominantly white, there were times Norway was a hole country who sent almost 1/3 of its population to US. Ireland, UK, Sweden, Germany, Italy were all ****hole countries while hundreds of thousands of their citizens came to live in the United States. Trump should know this first hand from his Scottish-born mother, German-born grandfather, or his Slovenian-born wife.

Immigrants come to US for a better life, better opportunity, and a better future for their children. Some came with PhDs, some with high school degres. The countries they were born might be ****holes, but calling you want less immigrants from these countries is basically racist. Since you are in NYC, you probably saw it in the local news but I'll finish by sharing the story of Pvt. Emmanuel Mensah, born in Ghana, who just became a US citizen last September. https://www.army.mil/article/198721/army_national_guard_soldier_gives_his_life_to_save_others_in_massive_nyc_apartment_fire

How can you tell it is Durbin (and Lindsey) that is lying?

I cannot, just as you cannot tell they are telling the truth.  Btw, I thought Lindsey only confirmed that salty language was used, but did not confirm the supposedly racist language that only Durbin heard?

Disagree.

People from other well functioning countries come to the United States for opportunities, to retire, or just because they like it.

Same thing, there are plenty of Americans who move overseas for a myriad of reasons.

The Government of the United States has a right to write guidelines in its immigration policies. And I tend to agree, we need more people who can contribute more to the country, it just makes sense.

Isn't confirming that language was used the same as confirming that language was used (because that's why this thread has so many **********'s in it?) He confirmed POTUS said language, offensive language, that offended him and caused him to speak up. He continues to speak up. Whenever he speaks about it he appears visually disturbed. Lindsey spoke about Durbin in the hearing yesterday - he stated he considered him to be an honest man of integrity. Lindsey has not denied the statement that was made. He never accused Durbin of lying, or of misrepresenting, or anything. Furthermore he confirmed the near entirety of Durbin's overall account of what happened at the meeting. The DHS sec, utilized selective memory, but admitted that Lindsey had repeated 'strong language' in response to POTUS, who had also just used 'strong language' but mysteriously couldn't remember the term, but could remember 99% of every other word stated in the room. Guess she suffered a second of blackout. Why would Paul Ryan speak out against POTUS, if POTUS had not said it? Contrast that to Boehner, who denied the comments in 2013.

Strong language was used and the WH admitted that. Are we going to really do a Bill on the definition of what strong language is?

Does anyone here really think Haiti is not a ****hole country?

Haitians would probably be the first one to confirm.

I believe it was confirmed that a lot of folks in that meeting were using colorful language.  What is your point?  Is Durbin some sort of choir boy that regularly washes his mouth out with soap?  You said you were quite certain Durbin was not lying and that Trump made a blatantly racist statement about Haiti, and other countries predominantly populated by people of color.  Where is your certain proof?

How is it racist to point out a country is a bad place run by bad people?  Should we not condemn these bad leaders regardless of their skin color?  I guess not since most of them are left leaning socialists.

Saying what a person believes in being the truth, isn't always constructive, and doesn't add anything to mutual respect.
I believe my neighbours live in a ###### house, I'm not going to tell them that, I just hope that they will find a way to improve. If I can help and they ask me I will be glad to help them where I can. They already know that their house isn't great, why should I humiliate them by telling them something they know needs improvement? And why would I humiliate them, even more, to tell them that I rather don't want them to visit me in my, what I believe to be, an awesome mansion? Instead, I really want my neighbours across the street who live in a big castle to come to my mansion and be my friends.

Why don't you invite the family that lives in the undesirable house, to move to your house and help support them . Then once they get comfy,  bring their family with them . Better than that just take the locks off your doors and let people come and go at will.
