Walmart has announced that it will lay off thousands of workers across the country as it closes dozens of Sam's Club locations.

The announcement comes on the same day the retail giant announced it was raising its starting minimum wage for new employees to $11 an hour.

The company told Business Insider that 63 Sam's Club stores will close. Some locations reportedly stopped business suddenly on Thursday without giving advance warning to employees.

The Sam's Club locations slated to close that did not do so on Thursday are reportedly expected to shutter within the next few weeks.

"After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy," the company said on Twitter. "Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition."

Several of the warehouse clubs are expected to be converted into distribution centers.

So Sams closes some underperforming clubs . Happens all the time as demographics change. The big news is they are boosting minimum wage to 11 bucks an hour.  I thought the MDL thought cooperate America should raise wages.

 

For the record a Sam's club store is not even big enough to fit the parking lot of a DC. I have been in several Wal-Mart Sam's DC.  They are huge and amazing places

But this is on Obama, remember?  The employment number being up, the economy on the rise, are all due to what he did before leaving office.  Too many here have said that in the past week or two.  No way you can blame this on Trump now.

The point of all this is the following : big corporations like Walmart and ATT are putting this PR out there that due to the tax "reform" they are now giving bonuses
and increasing wages while quietly laying off thousands. That kind of defeats the purpose and evens the whole thing out doesn't it ? 
Where are the thousands of jobs Trump has been talking about that will result from this tax cut which is nothing but corporate welfare. 
Just more games being played .....bonuses my behind, jobs are being lost. The only bonus is for the oligarchy and a bunch of CEO's, they are the only
winners. The working class is being deceived with a few dollars of a bonus to make it look like a trickle down for those who do not look deeper.
