The wedding would be in Florida. So it is still legally binding even if we don’t have a marriage licence?

Get married go home and file for CR1.

Problem solved 🤗🤗

Look, I get it. You don't want to piss off your family and friends. It's hard to plan a wedding that works for everyone.

But you're soon to getting your NOA2. If you go back and do a CR1, you're going to have to start the wait all over again.

We haven't planned anything, but from day one, we've told our family and friends that our ceremony isn't something that's going to be convenient - it's going to be sporadic and we won't know when it is until we're all the way approved.

If they cannot respect this/you guys/your situation, I think that goes unsaid.

Oh, boy. You are just one of those people that ask for advice and then insist on going their own way, right?

-        Do not plan a weeding or buy tickets until you have the visa in hand.

-        I am going to plan a wedding.

-        Do not have any kind of ceremony that may be mistaken for a wedding.

-        I am going to have a ceremony.

-        You do not need a lawyer; lawyers cannot make the case go faster.

-        I am going to consult a lawyer.

You are a lost cause. But I am posting this for any new people that are reading this thread.

Spot on!!!

They can wait until they are denied then go back and file a CR-1.

My NOA1 is 3 weeks before theirs and I know that there is no way that Rose will be in the States until mid May at the very earliest even if we are approved today...which we weren't.

Bit harsh?? This process is hard enough without people being rude.

Having a ceremony is a risk, but if you don't tell anyone, hide all evidence at point of entry it could work. People on this forum always give you worst case scenarios. People have been denied before for this but I don't *think* they've been people from our backgrounds in the UK? Do a search and find out.

Have you asked your family how they would feel about changing their plane tickets?

The fact that you're telling someone to hide evidence is a horrible idea.

Do not think that you can outsmart the people who have been doing this for AGES. I mean, come on.

Hiding this and that and hoping nobody finds out is very risky advice...I would never suggest any such activity.

Hi all,

Just to clarify I don’t plan on doing anything to jeperdise my visa. Not that I need to justify myself but the  wedding was planned before we knew these facts. The research we did showed a 12 month time line from start to finish. I found this website after we had filed and booked. I just wanted to know my options from here. Thank you.

The process is slow and tedious, but it is not rocket science and not backbreaking work.

Pay attention. Do your research. Learn from experience of those before you.

This is again directed to new people, not to the original poster.

I feel your pain....I did the same thing and it was 14 years ago!  Had a church wedding and all planned.  It was so stressful.  I was so stupid to do all that (it was before I found this site...lol).  I waited almost 9 months for my k1 visa (I am the USC) and that was 14 years ago.  In the end it worked out...but I would not let anyone book airline tickets...and I had already asked the wedding venue if I could reschedule for another day and not loose any of my money as long as I gave them 90 days notice.  Perhaps you need to see what you can do to reschedule everything.  It can work out!

I don't understand why people don't just have a wedding when they want and then do the cr1? Why are people who want to plan this elaborate wedding and have people fly in apply for a k1 and then hope their plan fits lolll

You obviously applied for the wrong visa.

They started to plan it in good faith when they first applied and timelines looked different.

Did you read the whole thread? LOL

This is off-topic, but what the heck are you talking about? And as John said, NVC isn't the problem, it is USCIS.

This is on topic. Guess who may have called the USCIS and told them to sit on the approved apps for weeks? The State Dept. are prima donnas, view themselves as an independent operation.

I have am immediate relative who works in DC, at the highest level, in Dept. of Homeland Security and in ICE.  I've worked in document control processing for 20 years.  Oldest trick in the book, keep your stats shiny by refusing work in the first place.  I deal daily with prima donna millenials whose main professional skill is looking good and doing the absolute minimum.

Hi.

I'm a fellow 'prima donna millenial' who's a full time desk jockey.

If the president - who really has no time between tweeting and watching network news - really called USCIS, I am sure he would be BRAGGING ABOUT IT.

People need to stop with the freaking speculations. It always slows down during the winter. Every year. I knew that before applying. Yes, there are other immigration things going on, but it's overall slow and freaking people out with tinfoil rumors isn't gonna help a darn thing.
