Hi,

My husband (K-1 Visa) and I were married on 10/6/17 and submitted all our paperwork for AOS/EAD/AP on 10/10/17.  We received the I797C notifying us of its receipt as of 10/20/17.

On 11/1/17, fingerprint appt came and on 11/1317, fingerprints done.  On 11/17/17, we received a RFE and submitted it on 11/20/17 (delivered on 11/21/17, according to USPS)....and have not heard a word from them since.

Did we miss something?  I keep getting these emails of couples receiving EAD approval who submitted their apps around the same time we did...so I'm starting to get fearful that we did something wrong, forgot a form, etc.  Before now, we hardly ever go to the mailbox.  But now?  We are literally stalking the mailbox daily!  I thought we were waiting on an interview date...nothing.

Just wondering if this is common or am I just worried about nothing.  Everything else in the process has gone smoothly and this website has been a tremendous help.  But we're a ball of nerves over here....

Thanks!

RFEs are known to cause delay in AOS/EAD approval. There are still August/September filers (myself included) waiting on EAD/AP as well, some who didn't even get an RFE. It's frustrating seeing other who filed after you get approved before you, but you are still within the normal processing times. It's still just a waiting game at this point.

You’re gonna be waiting a while if you just filed in November. It’s currently taking 4-7 months for AP and EAD. Just sit tight. You’re like everyone else now. For some reason it’s now taking forever. You’re still in the normal processing time.

Ahhhh, no one mentioned that to me before.....I had an RFE with the I-129F app, but there didn't seem to be a delay with that app at all.

but you're right, its VERY frustrating to watch all these approvals.  While I am the absolute happiest for them, I'm jealous.  My hubby is at home WANTING to work and can't.  It's disheartening.

Thanks for your insight.

No, you didn't miss anything. It's just a long wait.

If the I-129F had no RFE then it would have been approved right then instead of getting the RFE. :P

Yes, an RFE/RFIE can cause a delay on the applications. They are unable to continue processing them until the response is received.

Not that it's much more time, but we filed in early October. November was for the RFE.  but I hear you.

I guess this means we can't go on our honeymoon?  We're scheduled for a cruise leaving out of Puerto Rico in late February....

Don’t leave the country without AP. Won’t be able to come back.

Maybe. Maybe not. You won't know until the card arrives. That said, scheduling any travel requiring AP should only be done once AP is in hand.

Thanks, guys.  We made honeymoon plans back in July with hopes of having everything done.   The process had gone so smoothly until this point.  Oh well!  Thank goodness for travel insurance.  We will receive a full refund.

But thanks again for everyone's input.  Greatly appreciated.

Have a great day!

How ironic!

We received this notification today, "On January 12, 2018, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number XXXXXXXX, and will mail it to the address you gave us".  I guess this means he was approved!!!

Now we have to wait for the AP approval......*fingers still crossed*

It's typically a combo card and will act as both AP and EAD. In my case, only the EAD status updated on their tracker....my AP still shows as only received on the USCIS tracker (and the card received was a combo card).

OK, that's good to know.  Like yours, only the EAD status updated.....the AP shows the same as yours.   I'll send an update when we receive the card.
