HI...I'm in the process of planning the honeymoon and I was wondering how does it work in regards to the interview process. When applying for the K3 visa and once you hear back, do they tell you the specific date and time when the interview takes place or are you able to choose the dates. I'm planning on being legally married in the next few weeks and then applying for the K3 visa. Then in September we will be having the ceremony and going away for our honeymoon. I just want to make sure that while we are away for our honeymoon that will not be when the interview takes place. ANy advice???

Some Embassy will allow you to call once they receive packet 3 to schedule an interview. Some other ones will need to mail out packet 4 that contains your interview date, in that case, you will not be able to schedule an interview. However, you may reschedule the interview after you have received packet 4.

Best to look at the K3 forum and read the guide (stickies at top of page) There are some K3 canada mebers where the process is taking LONGER than a year from applying to receiving the interview!! If your fortunate to be going to the Vancouver consualte, it wil be much faster than the Montreal consulate!! Mtl seems to be very bogged down!! Which consualte you goto depends on where you live in Canada. I can't recal off hand, but i belive Sask, AB , BC goto Van, while Mb and East goto Mtl. If you go the cr-1 route, everyone goes to Mtl.

So if your going to Mtl, you have not to worry about missing ur interview, lol and with Vancouver, you should not either, as with van, you can FAX (can't with Mtl) back the checklist, and once you do that, the interview is about 1 month later if everything continues as it is now!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I don't think you'll have to worry about your interview for quite some time...it is not a quick process. Most seem to be taking 8-12 months from the time you file to the interview date...you've got lots and lots and lots of time. Unfortunately you might want to be more concerned with being away on vacation for your one year anniversary when the interview gets scheduled

:crying:
