Getting a green card because you are marrying someone, and marrying someone wth the sole intent to get a green card, is not the same thing. The latter is fraud, as defined by DoS and USCIS. There are plenty of people with permanent bars on entry to the US out there for trying the latter.

 

The new administration seems quite intent on cracking down on fraudulent attempts to get green cards, to the extent that they are starting to publicize things like de-naturalizing people who originally gained their GCs through misrepresentation. I would not assume that the previous fairly lackadaisical approach to those who already have their GCs through marriage solely for that purpose, will necessarily continue.
