Do I still need a record of my tax returns

Hello everyone, 

 

I will be applying for a student visa mid this year to take an Associate degree and a Bachelor's degree later on. I already finished a different one 8years ago but I want to change my career due to unsatisfactory with work. Anyway, I was googling about student visa interviews and I read somewhere that the interviewer might ask for a copy of income tax return. How true is this?
