Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has dealt with filing a I-90 form to replace a lost/stolen greencard? I was in Europe last year when my bags were stolen and my GC was in it. I filed the form I-90 in August 2017 and did Biometrics in September 2017. Now it's been months and there is still no update on the replacement greencard. Why does this take so long? Don't they just need to print a new card?

Any insight would be very helpful!

Thank you!

Your post makes little sense to me.

If your Green Card was stolen while you were in Europe, you'd would have to visit the nearest US Embassy or Consulate and get a Boarding Foil in order to return to the United States. No airline would have allowed you to board the plane without proof that you are authorized to enter the country.

In any case, if you did biometrics in September, you are still well in the normal processing window for an I-90. If you haven't received the card by March or April, you can get nervous.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

@Brother Hesekiel Obviously I went through all the process of getting a boarding foil to get back home. How does affect the I-90 timeline?

Anyone else out there been through the I-90 process? Sounds like the normal processing time is 6-9 mths? Just getting very anxious and stressed about it and would love to hear other people's experiences.

Thank you!

Currently, it takes on average over 6 months to get a new Green Card, so your processing time is within the normal range.

Update! I got an email on 3/21 with a status update " We produced your Green Card and are completing our final quality review. We will mail your Green Card to the address you provided."

I guess this means I should expect the card in the mail within the next 5-8 days?

What does the final quality review entail, any ideas? Just curious.

Good to know what the time line is.  The processing site at the uscis only gives the Potomac center and it says 11 to 11 1/2 months to process a Form I-90.  My wife will travel back to her home country and we will start the process when she returns.  Assuming of course there are no restrictions on her traveling with her green card expiring in August 2018.
