"We have both kinds of Music: Country AND Western!" :o:o

But, my tastes are ecclectic and vary much. My wife on the other hand .....

Damn you, beat me to it!

"Rollin', rollin', rollin'...."

I can handle music like Johnny Cash, but normally no way. No Dixie Chicks, no Shania Twain (except to watch video w/ sound off), no Garth Brooks.

Right now I'm really likin' System of a Down. :)

I feel strangly patriotic towards the US, despite the fact that I consider myself English and probably always will. I think it's something about the natives rubbing off on me.

I played both "God Bless The USA" and "God Bless Texas" on the cruiseship, and it was the funniest thing seeing the international dancers (two out of the whole cast were American) solemnly raise their hats and sing those songs.

I actually do like country music... not all of it though...

I also like the song by Alan Jackson... "where were you when the world stopped turning"

I tend to want music to take me out of my misery... not add to it... hehe...

so, i guess it depends on what kind of mood i am in that sends me to listening to different kinds of music...

my favorite country group is RASCAL FLATTS... they are just so upbeat and happy... now that's what i'm talking about! :)

Brother Dean you are incorigable  (think that's how you spell it)

Love some of the country , don't know if you call JohnnyCash country over ther but thought he was great

and used to love the song about the "Green berets" but doubt if that would be called country either

Sad I know, but I used to like that Achy breaky heart too

used to love another one but it was many moons ago

think his name was Willy Nelson or something like that, he used to sing about a girl from El paso, it was so sad, perhaps someone wil come along and tell me what his name was and the song, I would just love to get hold of it again.

That's the one... they played it again this afternoon. I really like it. Now they're playing a twangy upbeat country song that seems to be called 'Tennessee River Mountain Man' - that's its most prominent lyrics anyway :P

I do like country music or I wouldn't listen to it... but it gets a little tiresome that they play the same songs over and over and over again... there are billions of country songs that they COULD be playing but they stick to the same dozen big name mainstream groups :(

Last year we went to the South Florida Folk Festival and they had some really neat country stuff... I was REALLY looking forward to going back again this year and I had it marked on the calender - but then they cancelled it because the hurricane had damaged their venue :(

Greenwood was the Country Music Association's award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 1983 and 1984, and his God Bless the USA had been awarded the CMA's Song of the Year honors in 1985.

1985 actually. 1985!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not Desert Shield or Storm.

There are 2 song they would play to us in Navy boot camp (1986 for me) over and over while they would verbally abuse us. Picture the boot camp scenes from Full Metal Jacket.

1. God Bless the USA

2. America the Beautiful

While these songs would play we would be doing calisthenics and being told we were not qualified to be human beings. These songs bring back bad memories.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There's a song by a guy that asks what you were doing then, and it's very moving and they play it a lot.

I think you mean Alan Jackson's "Where were you (when the world stopped turning)"...very cool song, indeed!

I admit it: I used to loooooove country music!

As a matter of fact, I used to be a radio speaker for a country show. Now that I'm here in the States permanently, though, I kinda got tired of it and rarely listen to it. Plus, I think that there VERY few good songs out, right now.

But... My hubbys cousin is a well known country music artist. I'll include a pic of him. Maybe someone will guess who he is.

Is that...by any chance...TY HERNDON??? If not, he's an amazing sosia...if so...PLEEEEEEEEASEEEEEE, you've got to send me his autograph! I have ALL of his cd's!!! :D

I'll listen to Kenny Rogers or Dolly Parton. Maybe Willie Nelson. But that's about it.

Can't stand the song God Bless the USA. It's sappier than any N'Sync song could be. I do like America the Beautiful though.

I looked up his tour list one time. It was about 80% army bases.
