Hi there,

My husband and I are getting ready to travel in May. I came over here on K1 visa and we got married in Colorado. I had my interview for GC shortly after our wedding.

Yesterday I was looking at it and here are my questions:

- On the Green Card it says "Category" and underneath it says CF1; What is CF1??? Should it say K1??? because

my visa was a fiance visa that was called K1???

- On the Card it says Resindence since: and the interview date here in the US, and "card expires": two years after the interview date, is that correct????

- I always carry the GC with me in the wallet. I put it between the other cards so that it would not scratch the backside surface. I saw two small scratches on it yesterday, do you think it is a probelm?

THNAKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP

CF1 is correct, and it stands for Conditional (resident), adjusted from Fiance

Yes

Hi Jula,

thanks for yours answers. No, I did not get a small envelope with the GC, I was kinder worried where to put so that it would not scratch and I put it between those cards in my wallet that I actually don't take out or use. But it still got scrtached. Do you think it will be a problem?

Your fine.

If you do not know about the two year condition you must read about "lifting conditions" in the guides.

The officer at the interview explained to me that I will have to file for a ten year GC in 1 year and 9 months.

Here is a question: when someone with GC reenters the country, do they slide the card in some computer, or do they look up with the A# ???

I don't know it's first time leaving US, after getting married, so I took the entire AOS folder that I will take with us just in case. I kept all the letters from INS.

Don't worry so much! :)

When you come back, you'll give the border agent your passport and Green Card--he will swipe both and ask you (maybe) how long you were away. Tell him however long it is, wait while he stares at the screen and seems to ignore you, and then smile when he hands you back your documents and says "Welcome Home".

:)

PS: after getting upgraded to USC, the husband actually got the usual surly welcome back instead of the nice service he used to get as a PR!

Hi Meauxna,

thanks a lot for your response. I hope everything will be all right. I will take the "Welcome Letter" from INS, or the GC approval, just in case.
