It's not uncommon for some people to wait 200 days for their NO2...

The whole process roughly takes 8-10 months right now if I'm not mistaken.

I filed for my fiance October 16th and our "official" month that we consider very possible is August with him flying over sometime in July. This process is not for the weak hearted for sure.

Best of luck!

We waited 185 days for NOA2 and currently on day 26 waiting for NVC to receive it, most people are getting their cases at NVC around day 55 then you can wait another 2 weeks for a case number before you can even book your medical and interview. I am hopeful things pick up with USCIS sending petitions to NVC

It’s not 6-7 months. Maybe at some point it used to be. But right now it’s taking about a month for NOA1, plus about 7 months on top of that for NOA2, then another 2 months for NVC, then after that maybe another couple of months or more depending on the embassy. Things are way slower now for K1. I’m giving you those numbers based on our K1 and that’s the fastest (meaning we didn’t get an RFE or had any other issues so far). If you get RFE, people were saying how it was another month or two on top of that. Don’t expect things to go fast. If anything, expect it to take longer than a year, things are slowing down a lot, and taking longer and longer.

You are asking a question nobody on God's green earth can give you a definitive answer to. :P

Right NOW, as in as of today's date, the AVERAGE amount of time people are waiting for NOA2 is 6-7 months, as many have said. For example - we filed the first week of June and did not receive NOA2 until December 1st. For some reason, others have taken much, much longer. To my understanding, there are April and May filers who still have not received NOA2. So it is very possible to wait even longer than 7 months.

Nobody's figured out a rhyme or reason to it, as in nobody has examples of things to avoid or things to do to ensure yours moves quicker. It doesn't work that way, unfortunately. Best thing you can do is review the instructions twice, and then two more times, to make sure you do everything correctly the first time. RFEs can push out your timeframe even more. Make sure you send enough evidence, but don't overdo it. Just send what's needed, and enough to cover your bases.

The entire process will likely take the better part of a year, beginning to end, should there be no major hang ups. Even with NOA2 out of the way, people are currently looking at 40-60 days for the NVC to do their part, and then you still have medical requirements and the final interview. Be prepared for that.

There is no rushing this thing. You are at the mercy of USCIS. Do your research, take your time, review things before mailing them off. ALSO, something I wish I had done in the beginning - everything you put together for your I-129 packet, make AT LEAST two copies of. Two copies of everything. Have a copy of everything for you, and maybe another copy for your partner or just to keep somewhere. It's good to have as reference, and it's also suggested that the beneficiary have a copy of everything sent with the I-129 when they attend their interview. Not required, I don't believe, but helpful.

Best of luck to you!

Håll ut, y'all.

USCIS website says the California Service Center is currently processing June applications, so people who filed around that time should expect their NOA2 soon hopefully. Unfortunately, we filed in September with the idea that the NOA2 approval would come around this time but it’s looking like we’re going to be waiting a bit longer than expected. A user on another post said something about USCIS transferring petitions between service centers to try and get through them faster so hopefully their effort to speed up the process will really come into effect soon. Small price to be with the one you love forever but painful we all sympathize!

Hi,

How long does it take to receive the NOA2 nowadays? We're planning on filing at the end of this month, so by which month should I expect to receive the NOA2?

Thanks in advance.

we filed and posted the petition off in may, they received it may 31, first noa1 June 3, NOA2 Nov 22, NVC have not received it since so it takes time

If its 6-7 months like OP said then where are you getting the 11-12 months from?

So do you or don't you know how the process works?

It is two major steps.

Step One: USCIS. USCIS will accept your petition (NOA1), make sure you meet the baseline requirements and send it off to the State Department (that's when you get NOA2).

Step Two: State Department's National Visa Center will get your file and route it to the correct embassy (~1 month). Then the embassy will contact you with a list of things you must do/ paperwork you must get before setting up your interview (depending on the embassy, they may take 2 weeks or more to contact you, then depending on the embassy doctor availability and your own ability to get the papers in order that can take anywhere from a week to months, mostly depending on you). Then you schedule the interview at the embassy. Also depending on the embassy, they may have limited availability. Anywhere from next-day appointments to several weeks in the future. Then, if approved, they'll take a few days to return your passport with the visa in it to you. Then you may get on an airplane to immigrate.

So time to NOA2 is taking ~7 months. Then you've got ~1 month at NVC, ~2 weeks until the embassy contacts you and ~2 weeks for medical exams, paperwork and schedule the interview and then ~1 week to gt your passport back, all best-case scenario. 11-12 months is more conservative than I'd estimate but 9-10 is on the optimistic side of realistic.

And the thing with the time to NOA2 is that there's really no way of knowing if the time is getting longer or shorter. We just know that *right now* they are processing folks who applied 7 months ago. But if, in the past 7 months, they've lost staff, or people went on vacation, or there was an uptick in applications, that timeline will get longer. If they've increased staffing levels and applications dropped off, the timeline will go down. There's no way of knowing. You can just go based off of current averages and hope for the best.

Nothing is fast in US immigration, even this "fast track" visa.

We received NOA2 on 11 August, 2017, and had our number from NVC 12 days later.  I don't understand the long delays from NVC now?

I don't either, as if NOA2 is not a long enough wait they have to make us wait 2 more months for NVC. I could go there myself and pick up everyone's petitions and take it to NVC, I mean all USCIS has to do it post it right? Maybe there is a step in-between that I am not aware of. I can't believe it's taking this long.

People seem to be waiting 180-200 days for the NOA2 in the last couple of months. The waiting time for NOA2 has been getting longer and longer in the last 6 months, hopefully it doesn't continue getting longer. I got my NOA2 in June last year and had waited 107 days, which I think was average wait time back then. So over 6 months the wait has almost doubled..

This is ridiculous anything needs to be posted in this day and age at all.

I am ready and willing to put together a team and make an electronic system for case management. Have experience with SAM and CCR.

Somebody, make an RFQ already.
