I am in the process of gathering all documents for my interview in London for the K1 visa and have read on many forums/threads that the co-sponsor has to prove his/her income two ways for London

Be that bank statements, an employment letter, pay subs, tax returns ect....

My question is if my co-sponsor chooses to prove his income by sending me an employment letter and 6 months of pay slips, does he ALSO have to send me his tax returns (are tax returns necessary no matter what?)

A little confused if tax returns are part of the list you choose two ways to prove income or if they are needed no matter which you choose

Many Thanks!

Current ongoing income is the benchmark.  An income verification from an employer and stubs are just fine

Okay thank you, I will tell him not to worry about tax returns in addition to the other two ways also :)

Tax returns are required but not to prove proof of income. They’re required to show the USC has paid their taxes. You do need tax returns no matter what embassy.

When did the DOS become a compliance arm of the IRS?

YMMV

I still do not see anywhere that London requires a tax transcript, but it does make sense that I should have one from my co-sponsor, I will keep searching

The I-134 has different requirements than the I-864.  If transcripts or returns are available that is always best

YMMV
