POE JFK SUCKS!!!!!!!!

We are in the process of getting a good ticket deal to New York and we will be moving by the middle of July.

I remember putting somewhere in the forms during the visa processing(CR-1) that the POE would be JFK. But now we got a good deal to Newark, and I was wondering if we can chose the POE as we want.

anybody has a clear idea on this? can I get that ticket and use Newark as the POE? Please help

You can use any US airport (except Reagan National, DCA**) which accepts international flights as the POE.

**DCA does not have customs/immigration, but does receive flights (for which immigration/customs is cleared at a US-PFI) from YYZ (Pearson, in Toronto--Canada).

I don't know where in the forms you would have put the POE (but I did K1 not CR-1, so I don't know what different paperwork you had) but I would say now that the visa is granted, you can choose any POE you wish, it doesn't matter.

Anyone else with this experience?

From India, one should probably not make the trip through Dublin or Shannon (as there are no nonstop connexions between India and Ireland) as this will require getting either an EU (I have not verified the rule here) or British (this one I have verified, and it needs visitor, not transit, visa) visitor visa--true even if you have already activated the GC.

I'm not sure about going through Canada (dunno if Canada will recognise a non-activated US CR-1, but assume "no"). With already-activated GC, this is ok (as GC holders, for the moment, do not need a visa to visit Canada).

(as both Ireland and Canada have US-PFI's where one can clear immigration--and also customs in the case of the 8 Canadian airports)
