I met my fiancé on Tinder; we did not send in the terms of service for the app with our K-1 application and didn't receive an RFE.  However, certainly worth the peace of mind to do it in the first place.

Yes for Tinder. Whenever you meet online you should print the terms of service. Preferably finding anything in regards to IMBRA or the fact it's not "selling" relationships. 

 

I met my wife online and included it and had no issues. Recently, it seems as if more and more are getting a RFE if they don't include it.

I recall someone on here meeting his wife or fiance on Facebook and actually got a RFE for IMBRA and had to include the TOS. Doesn't make sense since FB isn't a dating site, but it happens. Better just to avoid it and include it.

I did some research before I answered this question. About 33% to 55% of marriages in the US met online. I would not think this would be a problem. Using a marriage broker (which you did not use) I would suspect would be.

You are not any more or any less at risk of a denial if you used an IMB.  You just need to declare if you did

Just send in your AOS and do not leave the USA until you have your AP or green card in hand!!!!

Apply for AOS right after you marry. There's no need to leave the country after that, but you will have to wait for 3-4 months before you'll be allowed to work and leave the country. So you might want to get married sooner so that you get your EAD and AP before your visa expires (April?). If you're planning a wedding in August, you can still do it, but get the paperwork done before that.

The OP clarified the initial thread.  They are getting married in February, and his F1 is good until August when they finish school.

 

To the OP, as others have said, file the AOS soon after marriage.  You may also want to talk to the international office at your school to make sure with the AOS there is no impact to you F1.

My wife and I met online, through a filipino dating website, and the only time this even came up at all in our case was during the interview. They asked us how we met, she told them, and then they asked the name of the website and she told them. After that, they didn't have any more input about it.

It's not strange, people actually buy women, so that's what they're trying to prevent. 

 

It depends on the officer reviewing your case, but a search on this site will show you many cases of people getting RFE'S for not including the TOS for a dating site.
