Good news. Some more of the data from the USDA link (https://fns-prod.azureedge.net/sites/default/files/pd/SNAPsummary.pdf) that Fox references

2013 - 47,636,000 people - 79,859.07 cost (in millions of dollars)

2014 - 46,664,000 people - 74,061.88 cost (in millions of dollars)

2015 - 45,767,000 people - 73,948.00 cost (in millions of dollars)

2016 - 44,219,000 people - 70,911.55 cost (in millions of dollars)

2017 - 42,182,443 people -

The USDA summary that fox linked doesn't actually have give 2017 figures, so that number is just taken from the Fox article. I don't have a cost to go along with it (since 2017 isn't in the source that Fox provides). I'm sure Fox has a source, they may have just provided the wrong one.

The decline isn't that surprising since it coincides with the time that the economy started improving and unemployment rates declined

I thought the economy was going to crash under Trump and Minorities would suffer.

Greatest false predictions of 2017

The left must face facts and admit they’re wrong about Trump and the economy

Funny how despite all of these good economic indicators Trump's approval ratings are the worst of any President in modern history.

I can't speak for others, though yes there were many "sky is falling" predictions that were overly dramatic. I remember saying here on these forums in some of the first days I was posting here (right after the election) that if anything was going to improve under Trump it would be the economy. I mean it was already improving so it's easier to ride the wave once it's going, but that was always going to be his "strongest" area given his background.

"Minorities would suffer" is somewhat vague - Economically? Socially? We still have 3-7 more years to go, depending, so we'll see.

It's obvious isn't it? It's terrible because he behaves like a child. His lack of tact and maturity is causing his own downfall. It is why the media are so critical of him and rightly so.  If he just acted like an adult and got rid of the twitter feed his  numbers would most likely be above water.

People don't approve or disapprove of a President purely because of the economy. There isn't one item that they use to rank Presidents. "Approval" is a more of a gestalt. Everyone combines things different, and a minor strength in one area may not outweigh a massive weakness in another.

It should be pretty obvious why his approval ratings are low.

People also answer polling questions based on perceptions that can be crafted by biased media.  Unlike just about everyone here in CEHST, not everyone in the US takes the time to become informed beyond what they read in the mainstream media or headlines.

I'm sure they also answer in part based on perceptions from twitter...
