Proof of Citizenship for Minor Child born in US

Wondering if anyone has recently applied for Proof of Citizenship certificate for a minor child born in the US?

My US immigration journey is over (thank God!) and at the same time while my N400 was pending, I began the process to get my 11-year old child her Canada Proof of Citizenship Certificate...

Here's where it gets a bit tricky (or maybe not), and I'm hoping other Canadian VJer's who've been through the same process can shed some light...

I sent my child's application to IRCC and it was received on October 6th.  At the time of filing the application, one of the questions asked was if I, as her parent, was a citizen of any other country but Canada.  At that time, my N400 had not been approved yet so I truthfully answered "no".

However, on October 19th, my USCIS oath ceremony happened and I became a dual Canadian/American citizen on that day.

My question is this:  Is this something I have to now inform IRCC about?  I'm thinking not because I became a US citizen *after* the application was officially received by IRCC according to their case status update...but it was before the paper AOR was sent out to me via mail (dated Nov. 3rd).

I've searched for answers to the above on VJ and on one of the larger Canadian immigration forums, but to no avail...I don't want IRCC to think I'm misleading them in any way, however again at the time I filed the application, I was NOT a naturalized citizen of the US yet.  Anyone else here who is now a naturalized US citizen with a pending Canadian application for their child born abroad?

And a side question:  If anyone else recently applied for the proof of citizenship certificate for their US-born child, how long did it take for you to receive it, and how long did it take to go from AOR to In Process (which I thought it would have moved into by now, since it's been 3 months since they received it)?

Any help/insight is appreciated greatly!

Hi. My sister who became a US citizen last year did this recently for her child. She filed in late August. She got the form back in the mail because she hadn't filled out a section. She filled out the section and returned the form the next day and she got the certificate in mid November. She says she didn't notice when the status changed from AOR to In Process, she wasn't watching it that closely.

I wouldn't make an effort to inform them about the status change but certainly if they send the form back to correct something, like they did for us, I would definitely make the change.

Good luck.

Thanks for your input!  Yeah my form got sent back too earlier on because I'd forgotten to check a box in the very last question...I sent it back, and then AOR was received so the form was accepted as "complete",  but even still during that time my US status hadn't changed as of yet.

Your sister got hers back quick---kudos to her!

I hate that IRCC will not accept calls to their customer service from applicants outside of Canada....always found that ridiculous!
