@Mario B I clicked yes and I haven't received anything from my embassy yet, I did read the pamphlet when I looked up packet 3 for my embassy though. You can Google it and download a pdf if you want to read it.

Ok. So you submitted and now waiting for the packet 3 to arrive in the mail? Also, do you know if you are able to schedule the medical before hearing anything from the embassy?

Is this packet 3 something for everyone or just a few embassies?

It can be an email, it can be a mail, it can be a full loaded packet explaining you to send it back.

so far one way or another I believe every embassy has something similar to this.

Try to find someone went through your embassy or check the embassy reviews.

From: ImmigrationRio@state.gov

RDJ 2018 XXXXXX

(i will paraphrase)

Follow these instructions.  You will not receive any additional letters by mail.

Consulate has received your petition for K-Visa, congratulations you are one step closer to your visa interview.

Special attention to the following 3 documents - they can often delay visa applications if not submitted correctly.

1. Recent Police Certificate - Federal Police

2. Recent Police Certificate from the "Secretaria de Seguranca Publica"

    https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/where-to-apply/

3. Where applicable;  Notice of Approval for I-601A waiver and proof of your departure from the United States (only for applicants with prior unlawful presence in the United States.)

Scheduling Process:

1.  Fill out DS-160; one for each applicant.

2.  Register at the scheduling site.  You will need the CASE NUMBER (RDJ 2018XXXXXX)

Make sure you are in the "IMMIGRANT VISA"  section (green) of the website.

Options: choose the correct condition "I HAVE A LETTER FROM THE CONSULAR SECTION WITH      INSTRUCTIONS TO REGISTER OR SCHEDULE A K-VISA APPOINTMENT."

3.  Choose your preferred delivery option for receiving the visa if your application is approved.

4.  Pay the required fee.  One fee for each applicant.

5.  Schedule an appointment for your interview.  Print out the appointment confirmation page.  You will need to send this to the doctor to prove your Interview date and schedule the exam.

6.  Print your confirmation page and bring it to the consulate on the day of your interview.

All applicants must follow these steps.

I will add:

Follow instructions on the Consulate website contact the doctor in Rio.  The doctor will only respond to email.  Doctor will return email with 4 documents attached.  Read the instructions and complete form 4 with your requested exam date. Pick a day 4 days prior to embassy interview.

All tests (blood, urine and xray) can be done in one day or 2.

Plan your time in Rio, allow for 6 nights stay.  Decent hotels are approx. $450-500 USD for the 6 nights, including breakfast.

The doctor + exams and Consulate are about 40 min. apart by car....

Good luck,  see you in Rio.

ps...i don't know if everyone will receive or if I received because I emailed the embassy when I couldn't schedule....

you are amazing --- how many passport photos does Jorge need to take to the doctor's appt?   I read somewhere that he needs 10 little passaporte fotos ? and all his documents that I am sending him???  ou nao ?

I think so too. Did anyone run into an issue where the space provided for the home address is not enough on the DS160 form?

yes - but I filled what I could ( there was no space for Bloco 8 )  but the envelope is address accurately and THAT is what I find more important

I need a help with the I134 form, see if anyone have a similar situation or knows a lil bit more than us. My fiance's income is over 3 times the poverty line but he has no assets, real estate or significant savings. Can we rely only on his income or should we try a co-sponsor?

you should be fine

my income is also higher than the requirement BUT I have temporary position with a health ins company and I don't know when it will end. so I used my father's income as back up with his approval of course lol.   but I think youre fine :-) it never hurts to be safe though!  depends if you have someone willing to sponsor as backup too :-)

I think we are ok too, if they require an amount and we are over the amount so it should be fine. But just checking, in case anyone went with just that and they have them a hard time. We don't really wanna ask his parents, so... But let us know how was the interview in the embassy, in everything i read Rio is a very easy embassy, with very low history of denials and the interview is very quick. We'll all be fine 😊
