I thought it was because we have to wait for our case to be scanned into their system before a number is assigned.

Then what is taking our cases so long to get scanned if it was received earlier? It must not take that long if there are people getting their case numbers so quickly after us..I don't know.

Well, I'm unclear on how long it took me to get in and out of NVC, as we called yesterday and they said the case had been sent, and i logged onto CEAC this morning and it already said "Ready"!

My medical is booked for the 2/24
The interview is booked for 3/14, just to give plenty of time for any untoward things happening with the Affidavit of Support being mailed to me. If i get them very quickly, I might be able to reschedule for a slightly sooner appointment!

guys I haven't been on for a day bc I can only access the site at work and I stayed home yesterday but here is a heads up.

NVC call center told me Monday night that since it was 2 weeks I should have a number by end up day that day or they could escalate my case. when I called yesterday morning they told me a request could be made for a supervisor to review but could take up to SIX WEEKS for them to do so..... when I ask each rep  about why people with cases received after mine at NVC are getting numbers BEFORE me, they continue to say well its because they were waiting longer ( so they clearly aren't listening to what I'm saying)  when they actually decide to hear what I am saying they just say they either don't know how it works or that they are unaware of the situation.   just so those of you who are end of jannies with recvd date at NVC, here is a heads up that we are probably in the same boat... I don't understand it.

you know everyone's process is different....for a thousand reasons...LOL

we took 22 days to go from NOA2 to NVC + 9 more days to get a Case Number + 10 days to leave NVC for Brasil.  41 days.

any of these "milestones" vary for all of us.

Sit tight, be patient - you are in the cue and it will come...

Don't get frustrated and complicate your process with any additional formal paperwork inquiries which could add time, unless you really feel there is a problem.

Just keep calling, every day.  Be the squeaky wheel, simple call, question and get a response.  Don't hawk it.

Try to keep the peace - especially within your group of loved one(s).

Ana will tell me  "...calma e nao se preocupe seu dia."

So our case says it's at NVC since Friday. I already booked an interview appointment on March 12 and registered for the medical which I was planning to knock off by Monday next week.

Now my only worry is that the thing won't change to "in Transit" or "Ready" by next week. How early in the process or NVC Status can I do the medical?

As far as I know all that NVC does is input the details in their system and it should be good to go. So I'm really confused and anxious that I probably booked everything way too early.

I have definitely brought it to the attention of every rep I talked to.  And they don't seem to care. I think if you and others in our position continue to bring it to their attention, they may look into the situation. because again, it doesn't make sense. two weeks isn't a bad wait unless the people coming in two weeks after you are also getting their case numbers within 1-5 days.....

If I were you I would call every day like me and make sure to tell the rep that you speak to your concern.  I may call 2 times daily from here on out . Idk, it depends on my mood.  I keep getting Emma and she hates me. even though I'm polite, she stays with an attitude.  ugh

call at noon, call between 6 and 8 pm

every day...

when they repeat the receive date to you - there is no case number yet.

when they begin to ask you to confirm birth dates, name of beneficiary, etc.

you will know the number is assigned.

it will come.

some can book interview and medicals immediately....

for us in Brasil - we have to wait for Consulate to receive - says beneficiary will receive letter from Consulate.  We have tried to register and have reply email saying to wait for letter to continue.

so we wait to register, pay, set appointments for med and interview....we can only access DS-160 to begin and save.

the protocols are different everywhere...but, we are mostly in control from here on with regard to completing this process.

Question about the I-134 form.

My bank (or actually credit union) will not prepare the banking letter for me without a letter from the agency specifically requesting the data.  Plus the letter has to be signed by both me and the agency.  SO....  What should I do instead?  Submit bank statements for the past 3 or 6 months?  I have the letter from my employer already.

Hey so, I called this morning, and although they asked for my and my fiance's name and birthday, they still didn't have a case number for us. Fast forward to 1:17 pm, where I got 2 emails from the NVC

The first one said that that the NVC was going to forward our petition to the Rio Embassy (yay!), and the second one saying that the Rio Embassy approved our request for expedited processing of our immigrant visa application. The second email threw me off because obviously I didn't request it, but I suppose the NVC did, based on the receive date and length of time it was there.

And just to think, this morning when I called I was so dejected at the prospect of having to wait even longer for our case to get entered and to get a case number. These e-mails turned my day around. Guys with the same/similar received date, don't despair! Let them know (if they don't bring it up) that you want your case looked at by a supervisor. When I said I wanted it, that seemed to do the trick. Also call every day!

Now on to the next step (finally!)
