Because even though k1 visa is normally a non-immigrant visa yet it has a immigrant intent I believe it passes through NVC (as it is national visa center) uscis only gives you permit to apply to the visa. And nvc is the responsible one to send it to your local embassy.

for other cases such as cr1 NVC is a longer step where they present evidence etc.

That's makes sense, thanks girl!

With nvc picking up speed, how early are you all starting to call?

2 weeks. (Even though I'm not calling obviously) I believe we should all give 2 weeks to save our heart and soul

hey all just wondering - what is the benefit of calling the NVC to receive the case number? is there anything you can do once the number is known and before the letter from the embassy is received? is it still necessary to wait for the embassy letter to schedule the interview? thanks for the info.

I just called NVC and they said they just approved our case this morning! Got the case # and receipt #. So seems like they are moving faster than reported in vj and elsewhere. NOA2 date was Jan 2.

I know for sure with the case number the beneficiary can fill out the DS-160. I think they can also schedule the medical and interview as well.

I just called NVC.....our case was received 1/24/2018.

Funny....

I called, hit option #1, #7.....gave WAC#....they tell me not received....

I called right back.....option #1,#5

Gave WAC....she confirmed my name....and told me received 1/24....Case No. not assigned yet.

Curious why one side knows and the other doesnt.....????

Anyway....it's there....I will followup for case number next week.... I'm happy...i may actually be able to keep my original schedule....(praying)
