Hey guys - just got off the phone to the NVC. Spoke to a very helpful lady named Serena and she checked our case and noticed that our receive date at nvc is 29 Jan, meaning we are at the end of our two weeks and has put in an enquiry to a supervisor to check on the status of the case.

Encouraged me to continue to call and check so will ring tomorrow and fingers crossed, we will get a case number assigned :)

Going to remain positive and focused on good news coming my way. So close now! Hope that all of you waiting will get your case numbers this week too!

Hello all, quick question! does anyone know what the expiration date on the NOA2 mean? The NOA2 I received in the mail says it is valid from 02/08/2018 to 06/07/2018. Does it mean my fiance would have to have her interview scheduled before then? And what happens if the consulate cannot process the petition before the expiration date?

I asked this question before. I think @Naes answered and said that I would need to contact my consulate to ask for more time... maybe its the same for u... Please know that im not 100% sure on this..

It is the validity of the noa2. It means you should schedule your interview before it expires.

if you can't make it in time, it can be extended. However you should contact to your consulate about this extension.

I understand but isn't the interview date/time up to the consulate? We don't have scheduling powers!

That depends on the embassy you're dealing with. Some (I think most) can schedule themselves.

and they would know it. If it somehow takes longer you or the embassy can just extend this period.

@Mario B

btw I was going to ask you something.

is your received date on noa1 was August 17 or that was your receipt date?

and did you get an update online? Or just received noa2 in the mail?

I'm just trying to figure out if they touched August 17- because there was no update online.

Question for the affidavit of support... What evidence are you submitting? We just submit what it said in the instruction as follows:

A. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, identifying the following details
regarding the account:
(1) Date account opened; - fiance can't obtain that from his bank
(2) Total amount deposited for the past year; and - I now have print outs of his bank statements from Jan 2017 - Feb 2018
(3) Present balance - shows on above mentioned bank statements
B. Statement(s) from your employer on business stationery showing: - Yes
(1) Date and nature of employment;
(2) Salary paid; and
(3) Whether the position is temporary or permanent

Now I see people talking about W2 and pay stubs... is it necessary? Or are we good with the evidence listed as in the instructions?

Re W2 - the Consulate in Amsterdam specifically asks for the latest tax returns. He sent me 3 years worth.

Re pay stubs - I'm including the last 3 to accompany the letter from employer/overall proof that he makes enough money.

Re both W2 and pay stubs though - I believe I've read before that while it's not listed as a requirement, people have been put in AP because they had not provided it during the interview. But again, different embassies, different requirements. I'm just bringing all to be sure :)

You are right, different embassies, different requirements... I saw a checklist on the embassy website here in Germany and it stated that tax returns are not required for K1 visas... confusing though that there are so many differences in the embassies

August 17 was the receipt date. And I first learned about the approval via the website/email that they sent me on 2/9. I then received the NOA2 in the mail on 2/12. The approval date on the hard copy though said 2/8.

Can I start collecting the evidence for form I-34? Or does it have to be closer to the interview time?

Mine is filled out entirely other than the amount that is in my bank account.

I see. What about the letter of employment evidence? think we can get that now from the employer or it has to be closer to the interview time?

I got it now. The only thing I am waiting for is my tax return from 2017, however I have my tax filings from H&R Block.

I think it's better to be prepared and start to gather your documents. :)
