Visiting from philippines. Help

Me and my husband are planning to let my mom visit us here in oregon, i was just wondering if my mom needs to apply for a visa to visit? Or its okay if its just a passport. I heared that filipinos are allowed to visit usa without visa.

She must apply for a tourist visa and go through the interview process at the embassy.

Not only is a visa required for someone coming from the Philippines, but it is often difficult to obtain one depending on their ties.

Very Simple Process for a Tourist Visa from the Philippines:

 

Have her fill out the Tourist Visa Application and  pay about $160.    Once she has an interview date she goes to the U.S. Embassy in Manila to  receive her denial.

There was a satire article floating around the Philippines a couple years ago that Filipinos didn't need a visa to visit anymore to visit the US. So alot of people took it for fact and ran with it. 

Unfortunately alot of people in the Philippines don't fact check stuff before they take it as fact. My wife even asked me if it was true or not when it came out. So I had to give her the bad news that it was fake.

She must apply on her own merits and no welcome or invitation is needed at all. Usually a elderly Filipino has a better chance of getting a visa than a younger one on average.

Oh yeah I do, especially with immigration people just believe some talking point they heard and never want to fact check it. That goes for both sides though. I have tried to help people understand the intricacies involved with immigration and people's eyes start glossing over.
