America is laughing at Oregon for having to pump its own gas

Jan. 1 was a monumental day in the state of Oregon, and not just because it rang in a new year.

A brand new state law went into effect that day, and it's a big one. It's a first for the Beaver State. And it's sending shock waves across all 98,000-plus square miles and all 4 million residents as we speak.

For the first time — in counties with fewer than 40,000 people — Oregonians are allowed to pump their own gas.

Reread that last sentence. Take a moment to process it. Oregon didn't pump its own gas. And it still won't in its major counties. The only other state that doesn't allow you to pump your own gas is New Jersey.

I read that lots of vehicles have been running rough or stopping completely after Oregonians started using the green gas.

Hey at least it's Oregon (beautiful State) and it's only small counties.

Imagine NJ.... not only you are unfortunate enough to live there, you can't even have the small pleasure of pumping your own gas

I would prefer if someone would pump my gas and I could stay warm on a freezing Minnesota winter's day. Paying extra for the privilege would be definitely worth it.

I've been on many motorcycle road trips throughout Oregon.  I always gassed up my bike myself.  They may gripe, but they are not going to get near my bike's gas tank.  You bikers will understand.

I refuse to get gas in New Jersey because I have never ever let anyone else put gas in my car and I am too socially awkward to go up to someone and say "Can you please put gas in my car?".  If you don't know how to put gas in your own car you shouldn't be driving it.
