Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort has sued special counsel Robert Mueller, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the Department of Justice in U.S. federal court, alleging that Mueller has strayed beyond the scope of the investigation he was authorized to pursue.

Manafort's suit also alleges the order appointing Mueller exceeds the deputy attorney general's authority. As a result, all actions taken by the special counsel "must be set aside," it argues.

"The actions of DOJ and Mr. Rosenstein in issuing the Appointment Order, and Mr. Mueller's actions pursuant to the authority the Order granted him, were arbitrary, capricious, and not in accordance with the law," the suit reads.

The appointment order authorizing Mueller as special counsel permits him to investigate any matters that "may arise directly from the investigation." Experts have said it gives Mueller wide latitude to determine the course of his investigation.

"I think it's going to be an uphill battle," said Sol Wisenberg, a leading white-collar attorney, referring to Manafort's suit. "These kinds of things usually don't prevail."

Manafort was indicted Oct. 27 on 12 counts related to unlawful financial dealings. He pleaded not guilty and has been contesting the charges. A trial is scheduled to begin in May.

The special counsel's office declined to commen

Saw this.  Probably won't go anywhere but hey why not.  I guess if I were in Manafort's shoes I would do the same thing, plus it gives a lot more lawyers a job since Mueller, Rosenstein and others from Mueller's team will now have to hire their own counsels.

Manafort's legal Hail Mary is only going to reinforce the fact that Mueller's investigation is operating within the Justice Department's mandate.  Manafort is still going to squeal like a pig.

Those poor lawyers...living job to job, paycheck to paycheck.

Sometimes I give them bread, or some hot leftovers when I see them in their suits on the street.

We can thank the Trump Mafia for the Lawyers Full Employment Act.  It's making America great again, don't you know.

Happened to catch Mark Levin (a Con-law attorney) on the radio some time ago, and he gave his reasoned rationales for why he was appalled with the Feds' treatment of Manafort.  The lawsuit might well fail, but details of what happened should be brought to light.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It's not that at all.  Look on Levin's website to see if he has comments about it, and offer your opinion.

Actually, I think you can thank Hillary and her team’s injection of the phony dossier into the criminal justice system that seems to have increased the employment of lawyers beyond what is healthy.

Are you talking about the dossier that is becoming more corroborated every day?  The same dossier where nothing has been disproved?  The dossier that the FBI was very interested in because they already were investigating some of the very same allegations that were contained in the dossier?  That dossier?

Now that the Fusion GPS testimony has been released to the public, you really need to come up with a narrative that has a shred of credibility.

What did the testimony reveal?  I read every page and still didn’t see any answers by Simpson that verified the Steele memos.  I am still wondering about the legalities of Fusion subcontracting with Steele (a foreign agent) for work product to benefit a US campaign.
