Case Status Online--the case #s won't register

Sorry, another question!

We just got Russell's AOS NOA1 and EAD NOA1 today in the mail, with an NOA date of January 27. Of course I rushed to register these two cases for case status online to see what the expected wait time is and such. But I tried both of the numbers separately (each beginning with MSC) without the dashes and all, and it says is:

Status for this Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the service center where you submitted your application.

I'm wondering, is it normal to have to wait a few days (or weeks, or whatever) to be able to access the case status? Or do I have to wait until I think the DO has presumably gotten the case for it to be in the system so I can access it online? I don't think I registered right away with our K-1 case, so I'm wondering if maybe there was a little delay between when we received the NOA1 for the K-1 and when it was actually available online? I don't know, I'm just throwing out some ideas. Anyone have any other ideas? :help:

Thanks!

Kylee

Yep I had same problem for a few days.

Just hang on for a short while - you will be able to access after a week or so.

I got my NOA 1 for AOS and EAD on the 3rd of Jan, couple of days ago I got my Biometrics Interview.

Still cant get my status online, Does anyone know an email address I could use to ask about this?

I don't think there is an email, but you can call the USCIS helpline. They will probably just tell you that you are in their system, and that sometimes the online case status is not updated.

As I've posted before my husband's AP receipt was not in the online system until it was approved almost 2 months after the receipt date.

((Success))

We are in the same boat... I made a post almost identical to the OP on this thread when we received all of our NOA's (5 of them!). The USCIS website still says they do not exist. But nice people (here) told me to be patient, so that's what I'm doing. Welcome to the Same Boat. Pull up a deck chair and have a nice glass of tea!

:D

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

I had the same situation and called the USCIS. I spoke with an Immigration Officer who checked the status and assured me that they were in the system. He also said that when the applications are received, they are keypunched into the main system. This information is then uploaded at another time into the system that is used to track the status of your case. He also stated that the tracking system is only about 80% accurate. Wouldn't be too worried about not seeing your case there but call them if you will feel better.

Ha ha ha! You are way too generous. I think the tracking system is very hit and miss from what I have read. Over a month and we're still not in the system.
