Visiting on an ESTA while waiting for an I-130

Hello,

I've decided that it has been too long since I have seen my wife so I am going to try visit.

I have just applied for and had my ESTA approved. I know when I get to the gate it is up to the person at the gate to decide to let me in or not. What types of things do I need to bring with me to show them I do not plan on staying in America longer than I am allowed or that I intend on applying to change my status?

If you have already applied for the correct CR-1 visa, that's a good start - it shows intent to do things the right way.

In my travel folder I have the following:

1. Letter from my employer confirming my job, start date, the leave dates I have and the date I am expected back at work.

2. My copy of my lease signed by the realtor/landlords showing that it's ongoing until June of 2018

3. Proof of insurance & ongoing loan payments on my car in Australia.

4. Proof of my half-ownership of a house here

5. My next trip over will include a copy of my NOA1 (or hopefully, but doubtfully, NOA2) to show I'm doing the right thing in terms of immigration

6. Return flights/hotels booked (I have to stop overnight in Los Angeles coming back because the flights never line up with long enough in LAX to be 100% sure I won't miss my international flight)

Not so much something I have in my folder, but they have my record of my i94 arrival/departures where I have left well well within the ESTA/visitor visa timelines every time I've come through the country since my first visit in 2005.

I have applied for my ESTA and that has been approved.

1) for the job is that all it needs to state, Start date, leave dates and return date?
2) I rent off a person. Can they write up a letter stating how long I have been living there, that I will be paying rent while I am away etc?
3) If I own my car out right what should I bring?
4) I do not own a house or anything else like that. Anything else I could use to prove ties?
5) So any proof that I am going through the proper channels for immigration I should bring?
6) I will have return flights but not accommodation as I will be staying with my wife.

Anything else I can show to prove it?

Only answer questions asked, unlikely to be anything out of the normal.

Do you know the time?

Answer is yes or no.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
