Bringing Personal Belongings (Declaring) Through POE

Hi, our journey is almost done! My spouse will be flying from Canada to the USA (pre-clearance in Canada).  She will have 2-3 bags of used personal belongings, which include clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry (which will probably be over $10K USD value), and a laptop.

Do we need to prepare any Customs forms, list of inventory included in the bags, or declare anything at the POE?

For example, Customs Declaration 6059B.

I am hoping we don't have to pay any duties on these personal belongings, especially the jewelry.

Thanks.

They didn't even ask me about my belongings or money or anything in that regards ..frankly I didn't even have to fill in a customs form because they didn't have a paper copy and k1 doesn't work through the computer system so I didn't file anything for customs at all.

Personal effects / household goods of a person  immigrating are free of customs and duty. Accompanied baggage needs no documents. Only thing that needs to be declared is if she is carrying over $10K in cash, checks etc.

Thanks, and if there are over $10K in jewelry is there a duty on that?  All the jewelry is probably a few years old, though some are more recently received as gifts at our wedding in the past year.

This refers to unaccompanied baggage not checked baggage travelling with you. Yes any unaccompanied shipments must be declared and hollow correct procedures with inventory, forms etc. still no duty payable for personal and household goods that meet the criteria of being owned for more than 12 months

Then what is "Customs and Border Protection Form(CBP Form) 6059B, "Customs Declaration," for accompanying goods" for?

The $10k in cash, bearer instruments etc is an anti-money laundering regulation. Goods that cannot easily be swapped from “dirty” to “clean” cash don’t need to be declared like cash or bearer instruments do.

Personal use is the key when bringing items into the USA.

There are many loophole you can use the "personal Items" with as well

If one is bringing in counterfeit items into the USA like I love to do, you are allowed one counterfeit item of each product.   Example you can bring in a LV wallet, Rolex Watch, etc.  I pick these things up cheap in Philippines, I can get LV wallet for $2, Rolex Watch for 3 bucks.  Some items last a very long time, some don't last a few weeks.    You  can't bring in more than one wallet or Watch, but one item each of a product.

Only rule is you must declare them on your customs documents and they must be for "personal Use" only.

I picked up a new Iphone couple years ago in the streets of Manila for $50 that thing worked great for years, but it always hit or miss on how good things will hold up.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.
