I 130 for parent of USC in wrong category

I made a mistake when filling out the I 130 to petition my mother. I looked over the form so many times and thought I understood everything, but I misread Part 1 question 1 as asking who I was so I chose Child. I realize now I should have chose parent because it asks who I'm filing this petition for, but at the time I really thought they were asking who I was. I didn't realize the mistake until I got my NOA1 in November that said my application for my child was received. I called the service desk and they recommended I write a letter to the California Service Center where my petition is. I wrote a letter explaining my misunderstanding and how everything else in the packet is obviously about my mother; I don't even have a child. I sent the letter and have heard nothing. I checked the wait times today and noticed that the wait for an I 130 for a child is 2 years and CSC doesn't even process petitions for parents of USC. I made an infopass appointment today to see if I can clear this up in person, but I was wondering if anyone else made the same mistake and if they were able to get it fixed. I'd hate to have to refile and pay the fee again, but I understand if I have to.
