For me supporting McCain was never about respect. You don't have to vote for someone to respect them. I respected the man and his service. I felt he was a gentleman, and was generally honest (as honest as a politician can be of course). Respecting him had nothing to do with why I didn't vote for him. I didn't support his policies, and I found him a little "underwhelming" on the inspiration side of things. He was quite boring.

 

McCain has never, to my knowledge at least, stooped to some of the lows that Bannon or Trump has gone. Even during his Presidential campaign. In part I guess because he has Palin, but even she was more of a joke than she was disrespectful. 

 

If you had asked me several years ago to name people in the Senate who i would think might vote against his/her party on principle, McCain's name would have come up long before many Democrats.

It has more to do with how the Left Wing media treats McCain.  When as a senator and trying to be a MOR legislator working across the aisle he was loved, but run for president as a Republican, then he was hated.  Honestly, it is not really an appropriate analogy here with Bannon, but it is interesting how the MDL and it’s media allies have now found some level of credibility with someone they claim is a white supremacist.

When McCain ran I always felt like whenever he was making political jabs to score points his heart was never in it. I always got the impression it was someone else telling him he had to. While with Trump I think he loves it.

 

None of this has actually been supported by Bannon yes? These are all "quotes" from the Wolf book. I haven't really seen news articles stating it is all true. They pretty much all say it isn't verified.

 

It's not unreasonable for them to report on it though. The book is coming out and makes outlandish claims. Trump has filed a cease and desist. While it may not be all true, it is ruffling feathers. When you upset the President and make him post long responses and get jis lawyers involved, that is news worthy.

 

I have looked for confirmation on one important details - was Wolff actually allowed the access that articles state he had? Was he really hanging out in the White house every day this past year? With his history it seems crazy someone would allow that. Did they ever think he would write a positive piece?

If you find out anything regarding Wolff’s Access let us know.  As far as reporting on it, I thought we had better journalistic standards.  Guess not.

I just keep seeing everyone mention what Wolff claims. It would be quite easy for the White House to prove he is lying, but perhaps since they haven't yet it means at least that part is true. One look at his history should have been enough for them to not let him within 100 feet of Trump. He was always going to write negative piece, that should have been obvious.

 

As I said as long as the reporting states that none of his claims have been independently verified (which every article I have read has stated that), there is nothing wrong with reporting on it. The President of the United States has issued a personal cease and desist letter. That is news worthy, how often does that happen? The President wrote a long letter about Bannon in response to the allegations. The President is making it even more news worthy.

 

Even if he had no comment though (which should have been his stance from the beginning), it still likely would have been "news worthy". It's a new book from someone who claims to have been inside the White House for the last year (and no one has, as of yet, refuted him at least on that claim). Is it 100% true? Probably not, but I would venture to guess there is at least SOME truth. You wouldn't waste that kind of access by writing all lies. The problem is figuring what is and what isn't. Sort of like a game of two truths and a lie (or perhaps 2 lies and a truth, or some other ratio).

If the guy is even lying about his access to the White House then I would put this into that category, which is why I'm asking.

 

As far as I'm aware he at least is truthful about his access. At that point for most of it it's going to be a "he said, she said". That is quite typical of a lot of books like this that get attention.

Of course anyone working across the isle is liked, whats wrong with that ? He wasn't hated when he ran for prez, people disagreed with many of his policies.
There is a difference between disagreeing with and still liking McCain as a person and Bannon who is being a total idiot in everything he does.
I see no level of credibility towards Bannon in the media nor what you call MDL. None.
