We both got tested before the first time we did the dirty. For us, it was a recognition of the times we live in. He's from South Africa, and my friend had just found out she was HIV+. We decided it was a condition of living in the 21st century.

Getting HIV, along with other STD tests, impotence, rubella, sickle-cell anemia, thalassemia and blood sugar levels were requirement for my husband and I to get married in his country. Basically, in order that couples will not later on divorce on that grounds of medically " incompatible partners " as they call them.

Sorry for your friend. She is in my prayers... a cure will come soon by the God's mercy. amin
