'Fraid not. I didn't visit the UK for the first time until late 1997 and I did not relocate here until 2001, so I'm kosher. My husband can't donate blood, but according to FDA regulations, I am allowed to.

Well that's good to know....I shall certainly pass that on to my other half, he also arrived here in 2001

My fiance and I both talked about HIV testing and decided to both get tested before we officially met in person. So yes, we've been tested before our upcoming marriage...

No. I had given blood before, but uh, that didn't mean anything in the months leading up to meeting my husband. I never had another AIDS test until after I was pregnant and married.

My husband is a wuss about needles and can't understand how I could give blood in the first place. Needless to say, he has never been tested for AIDS and I guess won't be until his medical.

how about, an HIV (and other STD) test before you have any hanky panky whatsoever?

Yes, this is what we did, though there really wasn't much need.

I put yes because my husband had his at the medical part of the interview and I give blood twice yearly and I am sure they test :innocent: and would let me know if there was a problem.

We didn't get tested since I'm a regular blood donor and he's a paramedic so we both are tested regularly anyway.

Someone mentioned blood donations...I completely forgot that they screened those for HIV. Durrrrrr, Friday brain! So I suppose in a way, yes...I have had HIV tests, though I've never gone specifically for one.

Yeah, if you give blood in the UK and they find something when they screen your blood, they will write to you and tell you to go for testing.

They also give you a nice red card with a National Blood Service hologram - which

was the only reason I went there to give blood :P

I knew I could not have any STD and so did hubbie. I just asked him to do a medical exam like I would have to do since he hadn't been checked out in a long time (I wanted to make sure his blood work is fine, there's a lot of cancer in his family). So they did an HIV test as well, but we knew anyway it would be negative.

I must say I was quite surprised when I learned that immigration was asking for a syphilis test - who the heck and where in the world is that still going on???? I thought that disease died with the hippie movement????? My point: I do not know anybody who ever had a STD, neither in Germany nor in the US.
