Hi All,

I am helping my cousin in the DV process to get the green card (hopefully). Her case is lower than 1.000 for South America area.

I have received a notification from britsimon.com and he is recommended to check the status, when I checked it the status was "At VNV" and they are stating that there are 6 steps to follow before NVC can arrange the interview appointment. This is totally different from my process, I just waited for the KCC email informing me about my appoinment, I did not do any step.

My cousin has not received any email yet.

Another question I have is the following. I have helped her to submit the application, she is currently living in Venezuela and this is stated on the DS260. Could she move to the US and when she receives the appointment in Caracas travel there or change the status if she is inside the US.

Thanks for your help!

Kind regards,

LCMG

I have no idea what you're talking about, but have you checked the guides here yet?

There's an NVC wiki, I'm assuming you're talking about NVC, I don't know what VNC or VNV are.

She doesn't need to do anything more than you did, it's just kind of a holding status until she gets current and KCC schedules her appointment. South America is only current till 625 for February so she'll probably have a few months to go yet.

How does she propose to move to the US before her DV appointment? On what visa? She can't go there on a non-immigrant visa intending to adjust status, so the answer to the latter part of the question is no. (And for DV specifically you have to be in the US already when you get notification of selection to be able to adjust.) She could travel back to Caracas for the appointment but again this begs the question of what visa she will be in the US on to begin with. The last thing you want to do is something dodgy using a non-immigrant visa that would jeopardize her chances of getting a green card. She'd also obviously need to get her medical done in Caracas.
