Boiler made a very good point. Regardless if she can work virtually, she cannot work while in the US.

There have been reports from digital nomads from Germany, that have been approved B2 visas, even they stated at the interview

that they would do digital work for their company back home during this time which is not an US employer. Many were granted.

At least some embassies see digital work for a foreign non US employer during your vacation not as work.

Also, almost every one visiting the US, in a certain position, would check his work emails and get some work phone calls.

According to several reports, at least the US embassy in Germany seems not to have issues with this.

I even know one owner of a company, that got no problems entering USA with a B visa, who is self employed.

He stated during the interview that he will be working virtually over the internet but all his clients are in Germany and no us customers are involved. His visa was granted. I don`t know if other embassies see this different, but in Germany, as long as you dont work US work, or for a US employer, they seem to be ok with checking your emails, or even work for a foreign employer digitally.
