Would you know at interview if you passed? And how long does it take from interview to oath ceremony? My interview is scheduled for a Thursday and then there's a oath ceremony listed for the district court the next day. I was wondering if it will be possible for me to be scheduled for that.

They will tell you after your interview if you passed/failed. The following day for oath might be too soon. normally it is 1 month after your interview. good luck!

They will tell you after your interview if you passed/failed. The following day for oath might be too soon. normally it is 1 month after your interview. good luck!

Thanks! I had talked to a couple of people after this and they said it's about a month to a month & a half.

Some people do get same day oath, as seen on this thread. Maybe next day is not that far fetched.

So something really weird happened on my USCIS account today. This morning i got a text saying there was activity on my case! I got super excited and logged in to see what it was but the update was for my Form 751 to remove conditional status on my green card. What's weird is that my conditional status was already removed and I got my permanent 10-year green card back in September 2017! And the update itself, even though i got it this morning, said

"On September 18, 2017, the Post Office delivered your new card for Receipt Number WAC1708150362, to the address that you gave us. The tracking number assigned is UNAVAILABLE. You can use your tracking number at www.USPS.com in the Quick Tools Tracking section. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

Has anyone else witnessed this? Is it possible that there was an actual update to my N-400 application but the system is just messing up and I'll get to see it on my account in a day or so?

This is weird, we got the same notification...the computers there must have had a blip?

So over one month since my interview happened, and got an email on 3rd May saving my I-751 and N-400 were approved.

But no green card or oath letter yet. Funnily enough I did receive multiple letters in the mail before 3rd May from Cleveland and Nebraska saying my I-751 had been approved and to expect a Green Card within 60 days in the mail.

I  have I751 pending in CSC. I am a Jan 2017 Filers. they transferred my I751 to NBC on May 3rd.

I applied for N400 in Jan 2018. Chicago is my local Office. I had an interview on May 22nd for N400. I thought they combine my N400 and I751 together but they were not.

IO asked me why you applied for N400 even if your I751 is pending? I said I called USCIS and one of the representative told me that you're eligible to apply that is the reason I applied.

Then IO start with N400 interview. I passed all the tests.

At the end , he again asked your condition needs to be removed first before you apply for the citizenship.

I said my spouse is here if you want to take I-751 interview. He said why would I take an interview with your spouse? I said we apply jointly for I751 condition to be removed. He said You should not apply N400 before I751 approved.

He said he will see what he can do in this case.

It is been more than 10 days now. no status update. I 751 is still with NBC.

Does anyone have any idea?

I am in the same situation as you two @KVE and @Rmsh. I guess we are not as lucky as some other people that their cases got approved on the same day. @KVE I also got a notification letter saying that my I-751 case was transferred to NBC on May 3rd. It has been 1 month now, I think our cases should be touched again soon. :-)

Good luck to us all!

USCIS has 120 days to adjudicate your N-400 beginning on the day of your interview and examination. This is regardless of your pending I-751 (they are right that an N-400 cannot be approved before your I-751 is approved, and this is why they often combine them into a single interview).

Hi everyone. Just checking in.

I had my interview on April 3rd and was placed on the list for a ceremony on April 4th. Since then I haven't heard anything. I tried to call USCIS this morning but the officer old me that they have up to 120 days to approve my case and to call back in a month. I don't think that applies to me because I was approved over 2 months ago, but I just gave up because the call quality was so bad and I couldn't really understand what she was saying. I'm wondering how long I should leave it before making an infopass appointment.

Weird. A few minutes after writing this post I got a call from an officer at USCIS (I had emailed them, fully expecting a boilerplate response). She explained that I actually haven't been officially approved yet, so I need to wait until at least 90 days from the interview and then call back if I still haven't heard anything. I wonder what the hold up is. At the time of the interview my I-751 was pending but I received a letter 2 weeks afterwards that said it had been approved so I've been expecting an oath date any day now.

Became a US citizen as of yesterday noon. Interview was at PDX @ 9.20. Checked in at the reception with wife and kids. Directed upstairs waiting room. IO calls by name and takes only me to a separate office section. I take the oath and then start with the interview. Takes a picture and fingerprint at the desk.  Goes through the application with the yes/no questions. Remember the dates from the the different places you lived in and the employers your worked for in the past with the time frame.  I was asked to verify dates on some of them. Asks question from the booklet
- Group of people sold as slaves
- Who makes laws
- name of vice president
- number of ammenments to constituion
- highest court in US
- why did the colonist fight the british
Said he will have to administer the reading and writing test.
Asked to read "Who can vote" - write - "Citizens can vote". That lead to a discussion on the art of cursive handwriting styles. Said that I passed and asked if I wanted to do a same day oath. IF not I will be placed in a queue and will have one in 3-4 weeks. Took the option of the same day.

YMMV: even though I had taken a binder with the tax returns/evidence of marriage, etc I was not asked for anything. The IO had 2-3 binders stacked almost foot tall on his desk with all my documents/status/info dating back from when I entered the US and whatever I had submitted to them in the past (aka F1, F1-OPT,OPT-extn, H1B, H1B Extn, Labor Certification, AOS, ROC and N400).

I would like to thank this VJ community for all the guidance through all these years and good luck to the folks waiting for their end of journey. Hope to stick around and contribute to this community in various other sections.
