Had my interview this morning as well the oath ceremony (Newark/NJ). I am US citizen now :)

The officer was a gentleman. I got there at 7:30am and my interview was scheduled to 8:30am, I was called at 8:35 and by 9:00am I was done. Had the ceremony at 11:00am and by noon I was leaving the building.

The officer did say that my process was fast, since his next interview would be with someone that filled on July, 2017. Also made a comment that I filled exact when my window was open (I could apply Jan 2 and they received my package on Jan 5), so I explained I wanted to have it done before my daughter turn 18 yrs old next January to avoid another process. He said they have a new system and the processes are messed up - so you could have your interview sooner than you expect! When I applied the estimate was December, 2018 and I had it today :)

The six questions were:

What do we call the first ten amendments to the Constitution: The Bill of Rights

We elect a president for how many years? 4

What is the name of the speaker of the house of Representatives? Paul Ryan

Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived? American Indians

When was the Declaration of Independence adopted? July 4, 1776

Name one of the two longest rivers in the US: Mississippi

To read: Who was Abraham Lincoln?

To write: Abraham Lincoln was the president during Cold War.

Can someone update the chart? I am in a hurry now and was having hard time to do it :(

Good luck to all!

My wife interview was kind of tough, in part because she only took the essential docs (GC, letter, my citizen certificate) with her but not all docs that I had submitted. They were asking for our kids birth certificates and mortgage of our our house which she didn't take but I was able to whatsapp her. We though ours is a strong case with kids and shared house so we were not expecting it to be tough. They were also asking why she didn't change her name.

I would recommend to go with your spouse if there is any worry or concern, it helps, all they need is to see the marriage is genuine. I couldn't go because I had to baby sit our kids. It appeared to us that when you are living together, they seem to expect you both together.

That is a great post. Thanks! I was going to bring the essential but now that you mention it I am going to make the same dossier I did for ROC! USCIS ready for over 200 pictures if that’s what you want, LOL. I honestly did not think we needed it but I am going to bring all marriage back up docs because I am based on the 3-year-rule too. Glad it all went well for her!

I took a lot of documents with me and the officer did not ask to see any. Just asked for my passports and CG. I applied based on marriage as well and have been in US for three years.

Hey Sanja,

Thank you for your update! I have my interview next Friday in Newark and I'm a bit nervous...

Did the interviewer ask you any questions regarding N400, anything tricky?

Thanks!

Hi Koss630,

The officer was really nice. I was so nervous when I got to the building, but when I was called to his office I was calm. He just said I applied right when my window opened and I explained why (my daughter will turn 18 yrs old next January and I wanted to avoid paying another process for her). He then said the form for her citizenship would be even more expensive, and that happens because there is a lot of fraud in the process and the "good people" like me needs to pay for whoever gets it for free. Not sure if he was trying to catch something but I did not have anything to hide, so I just agreed.

He confirmed some of my answers on the form, my currently address and nothing else.  I took a lot of documents with me and he did not ask to see any.

When I was done I asked him if I could ask one last question. I wanted to know if he would ever ask who was my representative in the House and he said: No, I would never ask that because I would need to know all the representative's names and I don't want to do that. So we both laughed and I was done!

You will do great, just be calm.
