I applied online too. It depends also if you are under the 5-year or 3-year rule. 5-year filers who applied after their 5-year requirement seem to go faster! I applied on the same day as my friend here in Jax, here interview is this Wednesday 4/4, mine is 4/25. Though my ROC was pending when I apllied, so I understand hers going a bit faster. Are you 3 or 5-year rule? Good luck!

Hi, I just came across your post and found it interesting. Are you saying that priority is given to applicants with longer history of permanent residency?  I am filing my n-400 soon and I have been a permanent resident for more than 10 years

How long did the whole thing took if you tell us? They say in interview letter to expect 2 hours, was it like that? I am trying to figure out if I take the day off or plan on taking few hours since I have to be with kids. Thanks.

For my interview they were about an hour late taking me in, but the interview itself only took 20 minutes for me. I am a very simple case though, I entered the US in 99, still married to the same American citizen, have only travelled out of the country once since I have been here, lived at 2 addresses and worked at 3 companies. Only legal issue was a speeding ticket. YMMV

Hi MahUSA,

From my experience here in this thread, personal friends, and other research, it seems that cases that do not have an ROC pending or that were not filed early (90 days before 3 or 5-year anniversary) do move along faster than those pending. So, stay positive as your case should move fast! It also depends on your FO. When did you file?

I had my interview this morning and passed. It was all very easy, the officer was nice, he didn't ask for any evidence other than my green card, passport, and drivers licence. He confirmed all of my information, asked the test questions, photocopied my id and that was it, I passed.

I have a pending ROC, which I asked about, and he said he had the physical copy of it but that he had requested that CSC 'port' over the case to him so he could approve it. He said he couldn't officially approve my N400 until he had approved the I-751 but it should only take a few days. I'm going to be taking a trip back to the UK in May so he added a note to my file to schedule my oath ceremony in late May/June. All good!

As I understand it, the estimated completion time is set solely by whichever local office you fall under. So for anyone else applying online through Dallas, for example, they would also see 23 months.

I've been scouring the threads here from previous months and found several from Dallas filers where they were done in a few months, including one that was done in under three months.

I'm hoping for something equally as swift since I require US citizenship for employment.

I hope that would be the case in Dallas. I filed mid-January and no updates other than "We reviewed your biometrics".

Ok, well it went about as well as I expected.

I explained the situation, and she listened, but said that it didn't really meet their requirements for an expedite request. I was at the window to speak to her for perhaps two minutes. She printed off a copy of the current processing times, and explained it would probably be a while.

She wouldn't take the documentation I had brought with me or anything like that. I said "Well I had to try", and she smiled and said "I understand", but I still got nowhere. It was 45 minutes of waiting for 2 minutes of disappointment. That seems very familiar, as my wife could have attested to.

So... I got home from the 90 minute drive, sulked a bit, and then thought I would call Senator Cornyn's office to see if they had any update after I had submitted a request for them to look into it last week, too. The guy told me that an expedite request was submitted to the Dallas field office yesterday, and that was all he could say.

And there we have it. Kinda hanging my hat on John Cornyn's people now, and it's unlikely anything is going to come of it. But I tried and did everything it was possible to do from my end.

Oh, ok! I am not familiar with your office’s processong times. Why would you wait if you’ve been a PR for 10 years?

Congrats, soapface! That must be exciting, go to your interview with your ROC pending. A bit anxious, I assume. But that’s great news that they will move it forward. This goes to prove what I was saying to someone else here, that we do not have to have an approved ROC to go to the interview... Did you reach your 3 year anniversary?

Hypnos! I’m sorry... ugh! I hope she took some notes, escalated it to higher tier IO, did something there in the system... it just sucks to live in an area where the FO is so busy! That’s mostly what it boils down to, it seems like. Don’t give up hope! It’s been almost 3 months now, that’s less 3 months you have to wait!!!!

It is what it is.

I do think the lottery of where you live being the difference between 5 months and 15 months processing is a bit unfair. And I don't begrudge anyone for getting theirs done quickly, but instead of some being 5, others being 15 months, how about we all get 8?

Maybe John Cornyn's office will come through. Stranger things have happened... although not many.
