@guvnor I applied based on being a resident for 5 years, my lawyer told me that it'll be easier this way than applying based on being married for 3 years.

Hey everyone,

I did my biometrics this morning, and I got "Account Update Notification" email in the afternoon. When I logged in, I did not see any new information posted in my account. What is this could be? Should I wait 2-3 days to see if there are any updates in my account?

Had the same thing. Called them and they said that they are having technical difficulties with the online system. No updates.

I hope our quick and smooth process will give hope and inspiration to others waiting for citizenship. We were in the same boat, and posts of people getting their citizenship in a couple of months gave us hope that maybe we could be the lucky ones too. We filed on Jan 4, 2018, and got approved on Feb 20, 2018. Now waiting for the Oath ceremony! Best wishes to all.

If your timeline is any indicator to how ours will be, then I’m feeling relieved and hopeful. Congratulations on your lightning fast process! Fingers crossed for the rest of us!

It doesn't always go by whether you file online. Usually online filers get an IOE receipt number, and IOE numbers seem to be processed faster. Normal (paper) filers get an NBC number. But sometimes online filers get an NBC number and paper filers get an IOE number. No idea what makes it happen, it just happens.

If you have an IOE number then your application is likely to only take a few months. If you have an NBC number then your N-400 is on the slower track, and it could take over a year (depending on your field office).

I have my receipt with IOE number, I'm paper filer and the process center still shows NBC, what does IOE stand for?

If you have an IOE receipt number then you should count as an IOE filer.

IOE stands for Integrated Operations Environment. It basically means your application is being processed by the new fancy online system.

Why do you think you're NBC

Thanks a lot for your quick answer. I saw there's a place on my bio-metrics form show center NBC. But my NOA only shows IOE number.

So I filed on 1/11, bio-metrics was done on 2/5. Next update should be interview in line, right? Then keep waiting for months to get interview date.

Do you know normally how long people will see "interview in line" after NOA?

It varies, and some people don't see it at all, and go right from "we reviewed your biometrics" to "your interview was scheduled".

Wow, my latest email update just said we continue review your case, there's no update now. I guess does it take longer for people who still have their 10 year GC pending? Cuz I'm December 2016 ten year GC filer with CSC, and CSC is still doing September 2016.

Hi everyone,

Can you add us to the list of January filers?  We're in Michigan and interview was just scheduled for March 29th in Detroit! Woo hoo!  Have a question though. My husband's passport from India expires on 4/2/18 (4 days after interview) and i'm not sure if we need to start the renewal process or just wait until he's a citizen since this is moving so fast. Can his passport expire between Interview and Oath? Thoughts?

Hi all,

Quick question about estimated completion time.

How's everybody's experience with estimated completion time?

Originally, it said Sept 2018 (7months).

When biometrics was scheduled, it said July 2018 (5months).

Now they reviewed my biometrics and it says Aug 2018 (6month).  (BTW, the waiting time for interview is 4 months, it says.)

Does this keep changing? Should I pay attention to it? Has anybody received an interview appointment sooner than the wait time?

Thanks!
