N-400 January 2018 Filers

Check your online account again today. It seems there was some kind of system update. At first it bounced me back to the old-style ELIS system when I first logged in, and I had to select the new system. When I did, that's when I first noticed the "Submitted" date when it wasn't there previously.

 

If I had to guess, as someone mentioned above, I think it might be the day they officially "submit" your application into the queue for interview scheduling. Actually I know a guy who knows a guy who works on these systems for a contractor that USCIS uses... I'll hit him up and see if I get any reply.

I know this is only one example and perhaps not directly relevant, but it leads me to believe the Submitted Date may be meaningless, at least for our purposes.

Scratch that, there is now a Submitted date when there wasn't before today. It's also showing March 1st. I am curious now...

 

Both @goodwinandkate submitted our applications online the same day, 1/3, so I'm guessing this is somehow related.

OK, based on this, I think I just figured it out. I think there may be some issue with date localization.

 

Hypnos and goodwinandkate submitted on 1/3, their submission date is showing as 3/1.

Stellamake submitted on 1/12, submission date is showing as 12/1.

I submitted for replacement green card on 1/8, submission date shows as 8/1.

I submitted for naturalization on 1/16, which can't be formatted in the other way (16/1 isn't a valid US date), so I don't have any submission date showing.

 

For whatever reason, I think the system is swapping the month and day at some point when displaying it in the website. It seems like it's just a formatting error - I wouldn't be concerned.

I just got an emailed from them saying there’s an update on my case. I thought I’d see the submission date but mine has nothing like that. The update was for the case complete time from Jan 2019 to Dec 2018.

wow i am seeing some Feb and March interview dates already? thats Awesome ! my wife is going in for her bio appointment tomorrow afternoon.  hopefully we'll have an interview date in March !

I'm pretty sure it's a number swap in the date as mentioned above. I applied 1/11 and my profile says submitted date Nov 1st. This can't be the date you get in line for interview as I already have my interview date.

Got word back from my contact at USCIS that the "Submission" date discrepancy is a known issue that they're working to fix "right now". The dates are transposed, as was suspected here. 

 

So in a day or two I would expect to see the correct date showing.

I finally got my biometrics date. Has anybody walked in with a printout of the online document instead of the original document? I have a lot of time tomorrow!

Near disaster averted: went to the safe deposit box to locate green card, and it was apparently missing. A little more rifling through the box and it was located. 

 

I'm curious to see how long scheduling is for us LA folks after biometrics are done.

I walked in for biometrics in Miami ASC. I was in and out in 8 exact mins. Very smooth experience though the security guard was little apprehensive in accepting me as my scheduled appointment date was different. She relented in and I was out in 8 mins. Fingers crossed now.... and hoping for a magic on sooner Naturalization interview.
