Hey guys, so I just called the NVC (our case was sent to DOS and we haven't had an correspondence since then, be it by letter on on the USCIS website) so I called to check and they said that our case was indeed recieved by the NVC on July 18th, despite no recieving any correspondence about that. She said they didn't have a case number for me, it takes up to eight weeks.

The positives is that it has almost been four weeks already so we are potentially half way through that wait.

Just wanted to update. Not sure if all that is normal process or not.

Sure! ask me anything i will try my best to help! and also you can call the NVC to find out if your case is electronic! If it is electronic then all you need to do is scan all the documents and save them on your computer or a flash drive and just upload them when you get a case number. Nothing to be sent to you my mail neither will you have to mail anything.
