Wow! I guess i've never really looked at it from anyone else's point of view before. A language barrier has/ will never be an issue for us, as I am English and he is American citizen.

I'm nervous about lots of things when I move, such as paying for healthcare, finding work, driving on a different side of the road and having to retest etc. I cant imagine having to add learning a new language onto those worries. I guess it is up to the spouse living in the USA to provide a lot of emotional support when the foreign spouse moves over to USA. Making sure they are comfortable and become familiar with how life is in the USA. I didn't think life would be that different, but work, healthcare and driving are all going to be very different for me and really, those are pretty major things!

Traveling is never a bad thing, so if you do have to travel a lot next year, try to see it as a positive. That would be nice to visit Russia. I dont think it matters how many times you have been married before. I work in a hotel on the front desk also. But that is not how i met my partner!

You’d be surprised how easy driving on the right hand side of the road actually is. Unless you’re moving to LA or NYC, picking up American driving habits should be a breeze. The main thing you need to know is just that you can turn right on red.

And roundabouts aren’t really a thing here either.

When I was younger my family was stationed in Japan, so I have an idea of how he would somewhat feel living here, but my husband’s total time spend in the USA in the last 10 years is about 4 or so years because of business. So he has been somewhat used to being here.

He’s just afraid saying the wrong thing in front of people in English, but he is fine talking to me in English so I can correct him. Worst case when he is trying to express an idea, I ask him to write it into Russian so I can use translator. When he is talking to people in Russian, and I need to ask him a question, I write it out in translator, so he can see both English and Russian so it won’t throw off his conversations. Usually the question I ask requires a yes or no answer. He had in the past expressed to me that its causes him problems if I ask him something in English when he is talking to someone in Russian, so that is the solution we found that works best for us.  The last time we had to use translator for a word he was trying to say… it was for the word “Mumble”…. I felt like I got trolled by him. LOL.

Luckily I live near where his meetings etc for his business trips take him, so there is a decent Russian community here. One of his friends from Russia won the Diversity Lottery back in 2014, and they play video games with each other all the time. I encourage him to be part of the community that is here. There is a Russian bakery, and a store we nick named “The Russian Store” since it sells things from Ukraine and Russia…

We looked into having me move there; if he gets a denial I will be moving a few months afterwards or so, and work on whatever that prevented us from living in the USA. I didn’t move with him over there when we got married in the USA, since we agreed to have him live here, and in the mean time I work on saving us money, (USD is stronger than Ruble right now) I also have a student loan that I need to pay off, and I would love to move over there with at least 3 years’ worth of savings for paying my bills and fees etc and extras for fun stuff to do over there without having to use the money in Russia. I really hate having to make two plans, the good and the bad. With this process you may never know.

I’m learning a bit of Russian here and there every day, my main problem is spelling, and the right grammar usage, and sometime motivation. In order from me to get the green card version for Russia I need to know basic Russian….. at this rate that will be awhile, so if I live over there I’ll have way too much time on my hands since I won’t be able to legally work over there. And hopefully his parents will be willing to help me with some of it when my husband is at work.

I think it's good that you have a plan for whatever the outcome.

We don't have one. Well, we have briefly discussed living in a totally new country together. My partner has point blank said no to living in England, for many reasons which I can fully understand! I don't even want to be here right now!

I guess I've just always thought positively and thought that there's no real reason why our application would be denied. Maybe that's naive, but it's also true.

So there are a few home comforts In the USA for when your husband moves over. There is a few English ones for me too.

It will take a while, but it will eventually feel like home!

Haha! I hope this is true! I will be living in California. I'm used to small country roads in Devon, England.

Good job about the roundabouts, I dislike those very much!

Turning right on red feels so wrong! Lol

Im sure I will get used to it and pass but I'm not the most confident of drivers anyways!

Guess I'm just nervous because driving is really important to me to keep my independence and to have my own things going on!

My cousins and one of my coworkers and I have made inappropriate jokes about the situation I am, because of... politics between Russia and USA. There are reasons why i don't want to live in either USA or Russia, but lets not go there.

My guess for Canadains is about 5-6 after NOA2, assuming no check lists. If you get a case complete before the mid point of the month, then you'll have a good change for your interview being about 45 days away.  Please keep in mind this is what I have seen with that threads that are talking about them waiting for an interview, with in this subforum of the forums on VJ.This is just looking at recent people having an upcoming interivew in Canada. Just keep in mind some people have had their petitions expideted, or just the luck of the drawl.  Someone from Russia that applied 2 months after me is already at the NVC stage.

This is the CR1's for Canada with interivews listedby the soonest.

You said "5-6."  I'm assuming that means weeks?  So, if I get my NOA2 in mid August and all is well, there is a possibility of interview by the end of September?

Hi my priority dates January 19. When do you think January 2018 i 130 files are going to be starting to get approvals?

Kinda depend on your Service center, right now December filers are started being approved, so most likely August is your month.

Oh i thought it was maybe in July. Mines Texas Service Center. Because someone i know got a December approval this month

Texas is the fastest service center so sure you could get approved in July. But for us unlucky losers have the slowest service centers, have to wait much longer. Good luck.
